Stetson (Official Game Thread) - 11/24/10
I have been trying to log on to start a thread, and there was some sort of server error. Going for back to back wins on the road...that hasn't happened since our first year when we started out 9-1 in the first half somehow.

Don't really know what to expect out of either team. Stetson seems to be playing well.

Its back up. Interesting we start out running and pushing the issue we score 7. We then slow it down..

Woods is looking good. Lets hope we can pull this off!

RE: Stetson (Official Game Thread) 11/24/10
We haven't really run all game to be honest. It has been a half court game for both sides. We ran our offense effortlessly in the first half and knocked down a lot of open jump shots. They weren't hard shots, but we were still knocking them down which is a great sign. Maybe we are starting to get some confidence. Starting the second half it looks like we are making an effort to get Markeith established in the post.

We need to keep up the defense, and take what Stetson gives us on the other end.

These Stetson announcers are pretty terrible...and the camera crew keeps missing half of the game.

Hatters haven't scored in 4 minutes, and the Owls keep methodically building the lead. Team is actually running some halfcourt sets and instead of just pulling it out we are attacking the basket when the opportunity presents itself. We are playing a very effective 2-3 zone in the halfcourt. Need to keep giving them one shot and out, and limit our turnovers...good game so far for the Owls.

4 minutes to go up 13....we have made some dumb turnovers trying to force the early play here the last minute or so...Markeith needs to be more decisive with the ball, and we need someone to step up and take the ball when it is less than 5 minutes to play. We have taken some quick shots here in the past couple of minutes, so it is clear that Ingle isn't holding our guys back from shooting...someone step up and win the game.

Owls with a convincing win. Back to back wins on the road is huge. Mercer in a dogfight with FGCU right now...we could go 2-0 in florida and mercer could go 0-2...big swing for us....

And Mercer loses by 1 to Gulf Coast....sets up a big showdown between the two Georgia schools...If we can get a win, we pull within 1 in the loss column of Mercer, and with a 4 game home stand coming up it could be just what the doctor ordered to get our team's confidence up and ready to make a run at this thing. Huge game vs. Mercer next week.

Congrats, I guess, you guys straight up kicked our a$$. You sure didn't look anything like your record suggests - Cummings is awesome as advertised.

For once Cummings didn't score half our points. That's a good sign, not to mention two road wins in a row. Perhaps the confidence is improving?

RE: Stetson (Official Game Thread) 11/24/10
We played a complete game. We still stumbled a bit in the last 5 minutes, but it was a lot better. It looked like Ingle gave them a bit more freedom (which they in turn used to turn the ball over QUICKLY in 4 straight possessions), but we actually attacked the basket after running some clock. From the 9:00 to the 5:00 minute mark we were getting good possessions for the most part in our half court set after running some clock. This is a marked change from the previous two games. If we can continue this it bodes well for our team.

At the end we hit enough free throws to win the game. We played great defense for most of the game. Our zone really stifled them, and we actually rebounded well out of it (which can be a problem against a zone). It really was a complete game from start to finish...I have been waiting for one of those for a while now :)

Wasn't able to see the game, but a win against Stetson was big. Hopefully we continue to fight and improve as conference play progresses.

glad we got the W, and it seems like the Owls gave me and KB our wish with two good consistent halfs in a row.

Now these two wins in a row were against the weak part of our conference, but they were on the road. Cant wait to see how we play against Mercer.

and a side note...the way Cummings is playing, he looks like the front runner for frosh of the year for the Atlantic Sun and he's also got a good shot of being on the all conference team.

We have to keep winning for him to get anything all conference 84. But yes, he is definitely the front runner for freshman of the year, and Ladaris should have a great shot at the all freshman team. I am just glad that we are starting to settle into a rotation, and our guys are playing good team basketball again. We hit a rough spot there in a few weeks back, but we have started to improve again...need to keep it up.

Thus far Cummings has my vote for Freshman POY as well as a spot on the all-conference team. I also like Green on the all-freshman team, Clark from Belmont, Banks of FGCU, and our very own Sheldon Cooley.

Wasn't able to see the game, but it's great to see the team progressing now. It's too early to tell if this trend will continue, but this is it -- win the games you should win and be competitive in those you aren't expected to win, pulling the occasional upset.

It also seems like we're starting to settle into our regular rotation, and that's allowing our starters to gel a bit.

Let's keep it going. 04-rock

Good win. I am pleased that we held on to our lead in the second half.
