LA Tech down to 2 coaches
Rivals has reported that Louisiana Tech coaches hunt is down to two. Tyron Nix and Todd Monken. Most at Tech are hoping that it comes down to Monken. He was a popular candidate when Dooley got the job. And in other Bright news. All nineteen recruits are still solid to La Tech with the exception of one who is sitting the fence until he finds out who the coach will be. Looks like we might have weathered this mini crises afterall. lol. much to the disappointment of many on here. By the way MUTS, I am glad you got to keep your coach.

Now some guy Ellis has been added to the list. I don't know one thing about him so if anyone has info on him post it. I guess the press conference to name the coach has been delayed

These names seem more reasonable then the ones Tech fans were throwing out the last few days. Now are sure this is not the same source that had Gus Malzahn headed to Ruston to sign a contract? LOL!!!03-lmfao

Why are you posting this on the Sun Belt board ? Here's a link to the WAC board. Maybe they have an interest.

well Mean green since there was so much interest in the demise of the LaTech program earlier in the week i just thought I would continue to post on here about how not only are we surviving but once again flouishing through this situation. You can't make Tech your business only when its convenient for you. and cajun t why wouldn't Tyrone Nix be a much bigger steal for Tech than Gus Malzahn/ Ole miss probably had the best defense in the SEC, and yes better than Alabama. I am kinda shocked that he would be interested in us especially since he is being courted by Florida rightnow. and I am fairly certain that it is Gus Malzahn's agent that keeps putting his own name up for all these coaching positions. Makes a little more since than the theory that Tech has anything to gain from it. His name is mentioned for every opening BUT ULM. when he is finally ready to move on imagine how sought after he will seem. I would love to get Monken. he has four years of NFL experience and he is also known as an offensive guru.

and I have never seen it quoted where Gus Malzahn was coming down to sign any contracts at Tech. It was quoted that he was interested by many sports lines but that could have been put out by anyone including his people. More than likely his people. Tech people didnt even start that rumor. CBS sports line put that name out there.

Nix was in the running for the NT job a few years ago. That dude really wants to be a HC.

i hate to say this but even in what should be an advanced way of thinking, a black man probably views his options to be a head coach in the south as limited. still just arent a whole lot of them. I am hearing its almost certainly Monken. blond hair blue eyes. almost looks like the ficticious depictions of Jesus himself. lol. that was all tongue in cheek but seriously don't you think it is wierd how much he looks like Stephen Baldwin. uuuuuu. the bible beaters in Ruston will love that.

Then why would you pick Monken over Nix? I happen to think Nix is the better candidate and is a better recruiter. But he is not a national name that Tech fans were throwing out there earlier this week. And the post about Malzahn heading to Ruston was posted on BBB site. I read some delusional stuff on that site before, but those post were funny.

Again, Nix is a good choice, but let's not try and spin him has some National name like Bowden. He has spent the majority of his coaching career in Mississippi, as well as playing at S.Miss. And he is an unproven commodity as a HC in anyones book. Those are facts my friend. He may or may not pay off, but he certainly would set history at Tech.

RE: LA Tech down to 2 coaches
yes but the rumurs were started on a national syndication sports line and Tech fans of course needed something fabulous to hold on to so they jumped on it. It didnt come out of the Tech offices for sure. Hey I am with you I think Nix would be great but I think Monken would be great also. I guess the real question is. what wins more games, offense or defense? I was extremely impressed with Ole Miss's D this year. I don't prefer one over the other but i do like them both. I do give Monken the edge on his recruiting experience but Nix being black might help him relate to some of these athletes better. I wonder why N. texas didnt swipe him up. It seems like they have ignored defense all together

Bowden is a retread...I'd rather not. Things were farther with Malzahn than most here will ever realize. It was not a yearly salary issue. He is reported to be getting a raise, but we could have easily topped what he made last year.

Anyway, I don't think it will be Nix or Monken. Look for a "surprise" hire that most Tech folks will be pleased with. If it's who I think it is, he sports a sweet stache too. That's just a bonus.

Where did this "retread" come from, I have seen it on quite a few post recently. IMO a thoroughbred will be a thoroughbred experienced or not, and a donkey will be a donkey inexperienced or not or not. Just try to avoid the donkeys experienced or not.

Bowden is no thoroughbred. His specialty is great athletes that tend to have chaffed wrists.

Tech fans ought to remember him well. He quit the Auburn job less than 24 hours before playing Tech in mid-season

Wilson would be a good hire, but not better than Malzahn would have been. Don't kid yourself, Malzahn is a star in the making and the only reason Auburn did as well as they did this past year. He will go straight from there to a BCS job.
BTW, didn't I hear Wilson's name in conjunction with the ECU job? Could LaTech outbid them if it came down to money?

They must secretly envy the Belt or just miss being associated with their ULL/ULM in state kin. Or maybe their WAC brotheren could care less about what is happening with them. At any rate, for folks who claim they want "seperation" they seem to have a difficult time staying away.03-banghead

no we get involved with the sbc board whenever the sun belt fans get us involved in it. so far its working out nicely. see if we don't inform you of what is going on here sun belt fans will start rumors that we made some god awful beneath us hire. Like for instance we will wake up to read on here that we have hired Dodge or something unbelievably stupid like that. As far as Gus Malzahn goes, I guess he would be a great hire as well but I dont get what everyone is wetting their pants over with his offensive schemes. and if he is a genious, and i am not saying he is not, why not get your feet wet as a head coaching job somewhere. much bigger names than Tech would have hired him. why wait. sec jobs just dont come around every day. oh plus our board has been crashed for two days. I have been hearing more about Tech here and the LSU board than I have been able to get through our own board.
