Busy night for basketball
For any MAC West fans, tonight could start telling the contenders from the pretenders. All six teams are playing and that WMU/ NIU game should be a barn burner. It'll also be interesting to see how Ohio bounces back. If it gets swept by KSU and Akron at home, then it could be hard for the Bobcats to finish better than third in the East.

Akron wins on the road at Ohio, 67-62. The Bobcats look to be in some early trouble in the standings and now their game at Miami this saturday has become a must-win.

CMU beats Ball State 53-38 in what must have been the ugliest game in the country tonight.

EMU beat Toledo at home 59-74, pulling away in the 2nd half.

NIU looks like they're about to beat WMU and establish themselves as the early favorite in the MAC West.

Ohio is in trouble right now. They could not afford to lose to Kent and Akron at home.

In trouble for... what, exactly? They weren't contenders, especially after Coleman went down.

Buffalo goes on the road and beats Bowling Green 68-65. Smiley with a deep three with 4.7 seconds left seals the deal.

Buffalo struggled big time in the second half, which is becoming a theme at Anderson Arena. It's just Buffalo's second win there (and 2006) in the last ten years.

2-0 in conference play feels good!

that's right. we were picked last in the East, after all. We know we're young and now we have lost Coleman. i've said all along anything that happens this year for the good is foundation for next year and beyond. don't get me wrong; i hate that we're 0-2 in the MAC with both losses at home, but this program has long-term vision right now.
