Rick Perry - in 2012?
Um, really? This Republican-leaning independent doesn't think so, based on what I've heard to date, but what do I know. I figure the Texas locals can chew on this one and help educate those of us outside the state.
This is from an upcoming issue of Texas Monthly.

As someone who plans to vote for Debra Medina, I view this with decidedly mixed emotions.
He would be better than Obama, but that's not much.

A run for the Oval Office would at least get him out of Texas temporarily and hopefully permanently.
Not that I want to see Perry in DC...
I typically vote Republican but I can't stand Perry.

We've already done that with one guy.
That's how we ended up with Obama.

How do you think Medina did last night?
I thought she was OK - not polished enough for prime time. But held her own with Perry, who seemed to be overly defensive and Hutchinson, who handled the Roe v Wade horribly.
Would have been great if Medina stuck with the sales tax and economic libertarian issues, stayed away from guns in grocery stores and free cocaine for the baby school children (I kid).
If she gets enough bounce in the polls, will she be in the next debate?
I suspect Perry won this round - he's ahead, didn't screw up.
Disappointed no one asked Perry about Willingham and/or the Forensic Commission manipulation.

Interesting about Rick Perry...he's been governor for 10 years now but nobody will admit to voting for him. At least in the last election.
I thought that Debra did a great job last night. For starters, she actually answered the questions that were asked, which by itself differentiated her from the other two. She could have been more aggressive, and I think missed an opportunity to really stick it to both Rick and Kay on her closing statement. But, I know her personally (worked together on a couple of political projects in the past) and that is just not her style/personality.
I really do hope she gets into the debate on Jan. 29. The Republican primary voters deserve to have at least one person on stage forcing the issues instead of whining and arguing. And I'm sure the Democratic candidates and liberals are getting a kick out of this too.

I missed the debate due to a prior commitment. Does anyone know if it's being rerun?
Not that I need it to make up my mind.

RE: Rick Perry - in 2012?
So Baker and Bush among others endorse KBH but from what I've read Perry still has an almost 10 digit lead? I know Perry is trying to pin himself as the anti-Washington candidate but I don't get that from him at all. Somehow I see that lead evaporating a bit.
