RE: CMU/Final AP Poll
That's great to see...when was the last time a MAC team was ranked in the final polls?

P.S. Was I correct in seeing that no C-USA team even got one vote in the AP poll?

Yep, both Houston and East Carolina were the top schools in the receiving votes area coming into the bowls.

Left with no votes at all.

RE: CMU/Final AP Poll
Looks like Houston, ECU and SMU garnered a few votes in the Coach's poll, but totally shut out in the AP. Wonder if that has happened before. I do have to admit that SMU's impressive showing in their bowl game was unexpected (at least by me). I was actually pulling for them as their program has obviously been through a lot since the "death penalty" was imposed back when.

Yes, when they got rid of the I-A and I-AA designation we are all considered Division I now. Some of division one plays for a championship, known as FCS, and some play in the bowl subdivision, FBS. Once they made that change, anyone in Division I was eligible for the Top 25.

Thats great but weren't they undefeated at the time. I dont see how a IAA team with a loss gets votes over other IA teams. I am not an ND fan but I honestly could see them beating villanova 90 outta 100 times and they suck.

RE: CMU/Final AP Poll
I think it was more of a symbolic vote. I don't think anyone who covers football for a living could honestly believe that a FCS team is anywhere close to being one of the 25 best college football teams in america. Not even a sports writer could be that dumb.
