CE-So we lost the Vegas Bowl because of Banks? That's pretty funny. Ok--now I'm pretty sure it's personal.

I did not say we lost the Vegas Bowl because of Banks. I said it explains a lot about his philosophy towards defense, and the fact that he played under Flynn (the man who was made famous by a FAT PUNTER, and infamous for the 82-6 debacle at Florida).

RE: Good Riddance, Mr. Banks!
Come on... lets be honest... the last 6 years of CMU football under Brian Kelly and then under Butch Jones didn't really focus on defense too much.

The focus was on the spread offense and putting up points... LOTS of points. And getting the players in on offense that could run the spread.

We weren't going to win (or lose) games 10 to 7, which is alright by me. Honestly, I can't remember at any time in my following of CMU football that we had as dynamic of an offense as we've had the past 4 to 6 years. Heck, we had times in the late 90's and early 00's that we couldn't even kick a field goal for chiss sakes! 03-puke Our offense was horrendous.

There hasn't been a lot of emphasis on defense with the past 2 coaches, but we've won the MAC Championship 3 times and won 2 bowl games. Its worked out pretty darn good in my opinion. 04-cheers

CMU's defense vastly improved this past year over the previous 2 or 3 years. Kelly knew he was in trouble on defense right before he left for cinci, thats why they signed a gazillion defensive backs that one year. If CMU had been able to put together a great defense the past years would have been even better, no doubt. But, we sure didn't do too bad though either.

And this is coming from a guy who loves defense, but I have to admit, I sure do like watching our offense play. 04-bow

I agree hawks, but I don't want to have to go into a fetal position with white knuckles every time our defense takes the field. Those losses to Purdue (2), and FAUk U. really hurt (let's not leave out Ball State at home). I think we've exhausted this subject to the point of a dead BROwNCOw. I got what I wanted, and Mr. Banks got what he wanted. Let's move on.

CE-did you really get what you wanted cause it seems like you wanted him fired and without a job, but now he's promoted making double what he made here, again, he's faired well despite your "Fire Banks" campaign and personal attacks. Seems like you should have "moved on" a year ago, but you continue talking out of the side of your neck.

Take a look at his "new" title/assignment at Cinci. Point moot.
