RE: Georgia Tech (Official Game Thread) - 12/22/09
GFWO, thanks for your input! I would just rather see dixon with 30 minutes. Sorry if that erases my fanship lol I have nothing against Kelvin. I love his shot and I am sure he is a great person. However, I would simply like to see Dixon getting more minutes in order to develop for our future as well as the fact that he has been more productive this year.

Considering this is year one with Markeith and Ladaris, I know this team hasn't even come close to reaching their potential yet.

Unreal. Kennesaw will finish in the 7-10 range depending on injuries and such. The number one seed? Well, if you believe that I've got some ocean front property in Arizona, so good from the front porch you can see the sea, and I'll make you a deal, if you buy it, I'll throw the Golden Gate in free.

yea obviously we wont run the table. We rely to much on the three pointer and for the life of me i really do wonder if our team has ever heard of a pick and roll. I dont think i've seen a screen for a player with the ball all year from us.

You can't run the table because you already lost to Belmont. Running the table is like shooting the moon. All or nothing.

Here is reality -- NOBODY in the conference will "run the table".

Agreed. Nobody has the mental toughness to do it.
But then again nobody else ever made the claim. And the kid who did made it after Kennesaw had already lost to Belmont. This is my age old struggle with Kennesaw fans.

I think people are missing my point. My point was, georgia tech's team is so far and above every other team in our conference that if we had been able to play them close and put that same kind of effort out every other night then we should have no problem beating all the other little engine that could teams in our conference. Our conference is not very good in the grand scheme of things. Out of 33 conferences it is probably ranked between the 21st and 25th best conference in terms of overall strength. The only way for one of the teams in our conference to make the NCAA tournament is to win the A-Sun tournament and get an automatic berth. This results in getting a 16 seed and being set up for a beating at the hands of a number 1 seed by 40 points. Yes, every once in a while a less motivated team like a Pittsburgh will overlook their opponent and make it close. That is more the exception than the rule however. Perhaps my point is moot because had we shown we could have stayed within 15 points of gt, it probably would have had more to do with them not playing up to their capabilities than it did with us. The difference is they can take the night off and still win the game. There is no way that KSU or any other team in our conference could possibly give anything less than 100% and expect to win the game. My whole point was based on the improbability of us even staying within 15 points of them even if we did give 100% and they only put forth a halfway effort. Think of it in terms of a video game. If gt's overall rating is about 90 and KSU's is 68 then the chances of not getting blown out on the road are slim. ETSU and Belmont are kings of the A-Sun but being king of the A-Sun is about a 72-73 overall rating. Still HUGE underdogs against anybody else that plays in a big boy conference.

Reality Check LeanMachine.....there are no easy wins for anyone in our conference. I don't care if we would have beaten GT (which if we would have knocked down some shots would have been a possibility) - we still weren't going to run away with this conference. Remember Mercer last year? They defeated Auburn, Alabama, and Southern Cal I believe..and they ended up middle of the pack. ETSU took down Arkansas this year...Gardner Webb took down Kentucky a few years back.
The fact is that this conference is pretty even, and it is going to be a battle every night. You talk about the Little Engine that Could...we can only hope to be the Little Engine That Could. Our budget is the little Go-Kart that could, and we are competing against Lear Jets. If our conference was able to crack the 21-25 range this year then that would be an accomplishment not a putdown. Our conference is getting better, Kennesaw is getting better, but we need to come back to reality.
The ASun will not be a multiple bid conference in the near future. You never know what can happen, but chances aren't likely. This doesn't mean that we don't have some good basketball teams. I like your passion, but your expectations of Kennesaw and this conference can only set us up for failure. If we are playing our best basketball at the end of the year then we will have a good chance to win the tournament. We are playing well enough right now to finish middle of the pack. We need to improve to make the jump into the top tier.
