I can't be in the Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool because I am able to get health insurance through my wife's employer; I would qualify otherwise. Unfortunately, my wife's employer is a small employer with a number of negative health experiences. Thus, my health insurance through her employer actually costs more than twice ($880/month) than it would if I were eligible for the risk pool ($435).

One good thing (of many) about French/Dutch/German/Swiss health care is that this particular problem is virtually eliminated. I don't think it will be under Obamacare.
