RE: UC Football Coaching Search
Jones dominos appear to keep falling. It is starting to make it across all the twitter and blog accounts that Jones will be the next coach. He will meet with CMU team tomorrow to update them. I am assuming a announcement will be made later that day. Funny, for how quick they were with correct and incorrect info on everything else, i have yet to see anything on FCS or CFT, yet.

Actually a lot of the CMU fans like Cincy from what I've read on their boards. They understand it is part of the process and they'd rather see Butch continue what BK started if he was going to leave anyway.

Thank God it's over.
I'm happy with the pick. I think we all knew he was probably the favorite from the start. Sounds like he's a good recruiter so hopefully he can build off our back to back BCS appearances.

Doesn't seem to have helped him that much at MSU.

I think him interviewing for Marshall took some of the sting out of this one. It's better to lose your coach to a BCS school, than another non-AQ school is a slightly better conference.
It's good news that he recruited for BK at CMU. I was just a little weirded out because he interviewed for Marshall. If the given the choice between Marshall and staying at CMU, I would stay just to avoid any unknown problems at Marshall.

he's a former assistant at West Virginia, and is a disciple of Rich Rodriguez, although I think he's a better Xs and Os coach. [quote]
That wouldn't take much

I wonder if CMU will go after Quinn. It would make for an interesting cycle, to say the least.

My first reaction was dissappointment at Quinn not getting it. But I admit...I didn't do any research on Jones. Now that i've had time to read up on him. I really do like this hire.
My biggest concern of all is the Sugar Bowl. I want this one bad. And I hope we have the best pieces possible in place...in order to win it. Not sure how the timing of all this plays out in that regard.

Quote:UC set to name new president
By Cliff Peale • cpeale@enquirer.com • September 8, 2009
Gregory Williams, president of City College of New York and former dean of the law school at Ohio State University, is expected to be named the University of Cincinnati’s 27th president Wednesday.
UC’s top leaders anticipate quick approval of their recommendation to hire Williams to replace Nancy Zimpher, said Buck Niehoff, chairman of UC’s board.
Margaret Buchanan, president and publisher of the Enquirer, is one of nine UC trustees.
Zimpher left June 1 to become chancellor of the State University of New York. SUNY and City College are not part of the same system.
Williams, 65, an attorney with a doctoral degree in political science, is a product of a biracial marriage and considers himself to be African-American. He is well known for a memoir titled, “Life on the Color Line: The True Story of a White Boy Who Discovered he was Black.”
Two of his cousins are Jonathan and Jay Hayes, assistant coaches with the Bengals. Williams grew up in the housing projects of Muncie, Ind., before working his way through Ball State University as a sheriff’s deputy.
In a telephone interview, he said he is “basically a Midwesterner” and has been impressed with the growth at UC.

I didn't think they were related. Hayes sounded a little taller on the radio.
