RE: Kelly to ND
Should definitely be S&N.

Anyway, I'm sad. I think ND might actually be good again in a few years.

RE: Kelly to ND
As an ND follower, I'm just hoping some of this years recruits stay with the Irish. Kelly has been a winner everywhere, so I like the choice. Hopefully he can get those big recruits to choose ND over the other big boys in college football.

If it is indeed Kelly, there is no way ND was waiting until after the Sugar Bowl to name him head coach.

It's all because of recruiting. Easy solution so interim coaches don't need to coach bowl games - push back the signing day to march

Exactly, but that is the type of guy Kelly is. He did it to CMU as well.

+1. An undefeated season and they can't wait until after the bowl game? Something really does need to be done about letting the coach stay until after the bowl game. College football used to be my favorite sport to watch, but with the BCS crap and coaches leaving before their bowl game because of a better offer, it's starting to leave a sour taste in my mouth.

What a class act! Wouldn't it be funny if he skipped the last BCS game he was ever in. Do not laugh, it could happen. ND is terrible and needs to really be rebuilt. This years recruiting may be shot and he will have a very short time frame to win big or he will be out. It would not suprise me if he does not take them to a BCS bowl and gets canned.

RE: Kelly to ND
What has ND struggled with most over the past few years? Defense. What has been Cincinnati's biggest weakness? Defense. Weis made Clausen into one hell of a QB and Tate was an amazing WR but he had no defense at ND. Kelly will suffer the same fate at ND that Weis did... Add the pressure to win right away and Kelly will be a has been within 4 years. The ND machine will continue to flounder as long as there is enormous pressure on the coaches to win the second they arrive on campus.

Seems like aholes and winning are not incompatible. Spurrier...Meyer....Saban.....Carroll....Hayes....>>>>....Calipari....

I see Kelly turning around the Domers is three seasons & going to a BCS bowl no later than 2012.

agree. However ND might eventually go to a BCS bowl but they will most likely loose.
Have not won a major Bowl game since Lou Holtz was coach over 13 years ago.
Kelly first states how Cinci. should have been in the title game then bolts to ND leaving Cinci to the mercy of Florida.
What if Cinci had made the title game?
Would Kelly had still left them to face Bama alone?

Kelly's string of success will most likely run out.
The last three coaches at ND have been fired.
Within 5 years ND might well fire Kelly.
ND fans have a way of driving their coaches crazy.
It seems that ND is a coaches graveyard and top recruits vanish without trace or transfer to other programs.
For the first time Kelly will face bitter fan hostility.
ND has no defense and it's top 2 offensive players are gone.

Expect another losing season at ND next year.
Bet you no players from Cinci will follow him there.
Irish eyes will not be smiling after next year.
Kelly is unlikely to get another shot at Florida anytime soon.

RE: Kelly to ND
It seems like ND alumns have more dollars than sense!
Firing Charlie Weiss may have cost maybe 18 million.
Hiring this classless joke with an Irish last name, who knows how many millions?
