good to know, since it was a stupid quote

I remind my crazy liberal friends of that slogan and after they say its true, I hit them with Rush Limbaugh is the greatest patriot in the country since he is such a dissenter. Just a little needle to remind them where they are on the totem pole.....

actually I think it was Silver Spain had an obsession with hoarding from the New World, which caused lots of Inflation back home. It created a sudden increase in commodity money, inducing Inflation.

Left them out of the Industrial Revolution

(The OED's earliest citation for the word "inflation" used in a financial sense dates to 1838, which means that usage might have been known during Jefferson's lifetime.)

That was one of the quotes that tipped me off as well. I'm surprised "inflation" dates back to the early-mid 1800s.

The Oxford English Dictionary does not recognize the antonym of inflation till 1920. HMMMMm That would be worth questioning. Might, Words be used, just not have a citation by the OED?

Dissent for arguments sake is silly.... Dissent on principles sake is crucial.
I doubt those founders that we hold up on such a high pedestal would disagree.

to some degree

Though the Founders placed high value in Prudence, something foreign to many of their modern day admirers and Political Purity advocates.

Granted.

I admire these gentlemen. They gave creating a limited government a damn good shot in comparison to those before it. Too bad we did not have a few of these guys in power when the government exploded through the holes they left in the system. Maybe it could have been patched and saved. I say it is now heading to the same failure as those systems before it suffered. Those in power now...have NO compulsion to do anything but expand size of the monster. The 2 sides just feed the monster in different ways.03-banghead
