Ranked CMU
Is this the week CMU finally breaks into the 25? A lot of back of the poll teams have fallen today. NC, Clemson, Mississippi. Plus Utah and BYU are playing, loser figures to fall out. It would be nice to have a ranked MAC team going into the MACC and bowl season.

Would be even better to have a ranked MAC team after the bowls.

RE: Ranked CMU
West Virginia will likely move back in with their win over #8 Pitt last night. I think it really hurt CMU to lose so convincingly to middle of the road ACC team BC. They may slip in the top 15, but Mile High Bronco is right..we need a ranked team at the end. I would mention that if you are outside the top 25 going into the bowls, and you don't play a team of note (and CMU probably won't in their bowl), it's very hard to move into the top 25 in that last poll.

The Sporting News has had CMU #25 the past two weeks. They are ahead of the curve!

It'd be great if they could sneak back into one of the polls. Then, you win your bowl and you're guaranteed to finish in the top 25.

Hopefully Oklahoma doesn't slide back in after upsetting Okie State.

Oklahoma is just 7-5, aren't they? They can't get into a BCS bowl with that record.

It's possible, but I doubt it. They're record doesn't stand out even against the teams that lost.

RE: Ranked CMU
CMU is up to #28 in the coaches poll.

Ohio didn't receive any votes in the coaches poll. This is curious as Ohio just beat #30 last week, has a division title and 9 wins.

This is while MTSU picked up 2 votes as the second place SBC school and Navy picked up 1 after losing to Hawaii.

CMU is #32 in the AP Poll.

Again, no votes for Ohio while ECU at 8-4 receives 3?

RE: Ranked CMU
DSniu: One of the on line websites incorrectly listed last week's poll. In this week's poll CMU got 14 votes in the AP and 40 (good for 28th) in the Coach's Poll...I don't think Temple got any votes after losing to the Bobcats. CMU is probably too far out of the top 25 to move back in after the bowls, but in the Coach's poll you'd think they have a shot if they win the MACC and then win a bowl game.

Harris Poll in:

CMU #28
Temple #37
Ohio #37

You would think Ohio would have more votes than Temple in a poll since we beat them by 3 scores but alas..

Ohio deserves to be ranked why????? Their lone marquee win is over Temple (no offense temple peeps) and....... Temple and.......... Temple and...........
OU won the east division in probably what is the worst D1-A Football conference. Plus don't forget the fact that AP voters and Coaches poll voters know more about OU for the Halloween Party than their relevance in college football.

And they did win the stronger of the two divisions. 04-cheers

(But, no, they shouldn't be ranked.)
