I like copying my format on the thread title :) Good work kr - for some reason uniformity and organization always appeals to me. They are very young. They graduated some big time players last year, so they will have a lot of uncertainty just like us. I like our chances of competing. These games are not scheduled for an upset, so our guys don't have anything to lose. We can only outdo the expectations of our squad in these sort of high-major guarantee games.

This tournament should be a great learning experience for our team. Playing a lot of good teams in a short time span will only accelerate the maturation process. I'd love a win or two out of this tournament but as long as it prepares us for conference play I'll be happy.

RE: Saint Louis (Official Game Thread) - 11/22/09
One thing that might be overlooked in our early scheduling is the timing of our games. Think about it...our first two games were against non-D1 opponents, which means that we wanted to get off to a good start - however, Ingle did schedule these two games in back to back nights. The only reason I can think of doing this is so that to start the season our players get a feel for what a post-season tournament might feel like. Granted we played N. Greenville & N. Georgia, but playing back to back nights is an experience that our players will be able to draw on later in the year when we are in the ASun tournament.

Now we are going to play in a true tournament where we face 4 teams in 6 days. This will be another learning experience for our players that have never played in collegiate post-season tournament. I think it is a brilliant move, that should pay off in the long run in the maturation and mental development of our team.

SLU plays Nebraska tonight. It will be interesting to see how their young guys perform at home against the Huskers. Nebraska appears to be a little deeper that SLU.

St. Louis took Nebraska out to the woodshed. I was hoping that due to their young roster they wouldn't be very good, but it looks like Kennesaw is up against a really good team this Sunday. Majerus must have gotten him some big time recruits.

Should be interesting to see where we stand vs. an upper tier mid major.

Found this forum. This is what they have to say about us. Hope our team gets a look at this.

"This is one of the worst Div 1 teams in the country. We could put Coach into play and still win. "

Not surprising. Their just going off last years record. I think their going to be in for a bit of a shock when they see our team run onto the court. We actually look like a division 1 team now.

We pass the airport test this year, but that doesn't always equal wins :) If our young guys play with intensity and confidence I feel good about us competing for 40 minutes. It is always tough to win on the road, especially against a Rick Majerus coached mid-major like St. Louis, so I don't expect a win by any means. We just need our guys to continue to improve in every game...win or not.

I don't expect to win either. However, I do feel we will compete for most of the game.

Go Owls!

We're at least playing hard. Definetly a good sign.

Sounds like Markeith just got tackled and it was a no call.
