JJ Mann- 6'6" swingman from Smyrna, GA. 43% from 3. Didn't see much about him before he signed, will have to do more research on him or maybe someone else has some insight.

RE: 1st signee
He graduated last year and was listed as a 2-star recruit on scout.com. He is attending a fifth year military academy this year.

Stats from his senior year: 18.9 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 2.9 apg, 3.2 spg, 85.3 FT%
Also looks like he is playing with some good players at Hargrave Military Academy with teammates already signing with North Carolina State University, University of Arkansas, University of Pittsburgh, Florida International University, Rice University, Tulane University, Auburn University. They have a good reputation for putting out quality players including several NBA players http://www.hargrave.edu/athletics/sport_...gory_id=19

Byrd sure does know how to find guys who can shoot! Sounds like a good pickup.
As far as Hargrave Academy goes, it is an outstanding prep school that produces some phenomenal players, as you've mentioned. Our all time leading scorer, Tim Smith, came from Hargrave.

Those are very good stats in a generally good region for basketball. The fifth year will only help. Sounds a bit like Brandon Baker, though there are huge amounts of supposition and inferences in that potential comparison, as I've never seen Mann play. Just similar stats and sizes in H.S., and both were known as shooters.

RE: 1st signee
I totally agree, I see the 5th year being a huge help. Not only is he playing on a very good team, but he is consistently playing teams better than quite a few of teams in the ASun, notably Virginia Tech, UNC, Oak Hill Academy alongside many smaller universities and community colleges. All of this while not giving up a year of eligibility, and most likely getting more playing time than he would be getting at Belmont.
I also read somewhere that he played shooting guard in high school and it would be good to add a little size to our guard positions.
