Right when we started watching, Kennesaw started playing better defense. Still have problems rebounding, and our defense was spotty at best. Offensively we have some weapons finally, but we need to tighten up a lot. Good win for the Owls. North Greenville looked much improved from last year. They should have a pretty good year for their division.

Sucks that we missed the Markeith dunks - hopefully they will have the full game up in the archive, and we can go back and watch the dunks.

I'm somewhat glad we caught the second half and not the first..lol. As I stated before-Its never as good as it looks or as bad as it seems. We did some good things.. we did some bad things.. The good news is we came out with a win. 1-0 to start the season. It wasn't pretty but you can't be better than 1-0.

We have a lot of things to fix. Lets hope our guys (especially Markeith) are well conditioned as we have another game tomorrow against a better opponent.

Any news on Mitchell?

Yea I would have liked to see Markeith's dunks.. I get the feeling we may get to see quite a few over the course of the season though.. :)

From what I have heard Mitchell will be brought along slowly. I wouldn't expect a lot of minutes out of him early in the season.

I noticed that they started the game with Artie Marine in at the 3 but he didn't return for the rest of the game. Do you think that they weren't expecting North Greenville to give them as many problems as they did and ultimately had to go with their best 8 and not worry about getting the other guys playing time? I'm wondering if we can expect Markeith Cummings to start from here on out. I guess it doesn't matter who starts if they guy that comes in off the bench plays 30+ minutes and the guy that starts plays 6 minutes.

This.

I think we were wanting to keep minutes down since we have a game tomorrow as well.

so I wasn't there, and just looking at stats I'm just a bit concerned. In the article, Ingle was praising the senior leaders like JMac and Whipple, did they play much? I'm not impressed with the score, I know a win is a win, but that just seems like a lot of points given up.

I feel sorry for anyone who didnt get to see the Markeith dunks. His first one should prob be a sports center top play. He posterized the guy.

The key to the game was clearly J-Mac. We had no leadership on the court in the first half. He barely played. Then in the second half we were a different team. Everyone seemed to follow his lead. He was excellent.

Couple things we need to work on. Were very aggressive on defense, but at times over aggressive. We tended to double team when it wasn't necessary, we left our feet on just about every pump fake, and reached in a little excessively. The other problem defensively wasn't our ability to stay with our guy, but we didn't communicate well with the switches on defense. I'm sure that problem will get fixed with more experience playing together.

I had a good time at the game though. You guys def need to be there in person to witness those dunks live. It was pretty sweet. Kurtis had a couple good ones as well.

RE: North Greenville (Official Game Thread) - 11/13/09
I attended the game and it was probably the least physical game I have seen in a while. It may be the fact that I havent watched a lot of games lately but it seems any contact was whistled. This could have led to our poor defense inside. I missed the first Cummings' dunk because I showed up a little late. A few of his other dunks were nasty. I heard he hit his head on the roof on one of his first half dunks over some poor guy. Woods had some great dunks as well. To be honest the guys on the other side couldnt miss a shot for a very long stretch. It didnt matter if there was a hand in their face. However, there were a few breakdowns inside but I am not too worried about that stuff as this was our first game and I hope to fix those problems. It will be interesting to see how we play tomorrow. Our offense is probably the best it has been in years. I believe this season will be very exciting. We are very deep and it seems our bench will have the experience in my opinion. We shall see.

Thanks for all the reports.. Anyone know if J-Mac's limited minutes in the first half has to do with his ankle?

My guess is that it had a lot more to do with limiting his minutes for back to back games than anything. Ingle also might still be trying to figure out a few guys on the team...he knows what he has with JMac, so he is not testing him with different lineups.

I'm still trying to figure out why Markeith doesn't play the first two minutes of the game, and then he played the rest of the 1st and entire 2nd half. 03-confused
