Me to the Bengals:
Hello
I was reading an Ohio State Football website, and read that "Hang on Sloopy" was
recently played at the Bengals home game with the Bears, somewhere near the start of the fourth
quarter. the poster related that "Sloopy" had been played for quite a few years.
I was wondering if other State of Ohio songs or Ohio university songs are also played, and why "Hang on Sloopy"
was selected.

Thanks for your communication. “Hang on Sloopy” by the McCoys is the “official” rock song for the state of Ohio. It has been played at every Bengals Home Game since 2000 when we moved into Paul Brown Stadium. The playing of this song has nothing to do with The Ohio State University in any form. We have played it strictly for fan involvement and entertainment.

Yea, "Hang on Sloopy" is the first song I think of for entertainment.

Perhaps, you might be very alone. Most folks associate this with the Other State University.

I love that song. I do not associate it with OSUcks. That part of my brain is reserved for other things I'd rather ignore the existence of, like flies-on-poo or Sean Penn.

The only good thing about Hang-on sloopy at the Bengals game now is that a huge percentage of the crowd is now doing U-C--U-C. Instead of O-H-I-O.

It pisses the OSU people in our section off. So naturally I continue to do it, enthusiatically.
