RE: The official Broncos vs mercyhurst gamethread
Broncos Win! Final Score 5-1
Goals by JJ Crew, Chris Clackson, Greg Squires and two others that could not be heard through the muddle of the sound system in Lawson.
The passing was a vast improvement over previous years.
There was also a very good penalty kill where WMU was down on a 5 on 3.
I think the referees have been told to enforce high sticking, as there must have been 5 or 6 penalties called for that.
Thinks its gonna be a good season.

I agree Kzoo colt.........Firs off, this score could have been alot worse....one thing that the broncos can take from this...Work on the powerplay....second, JJ Crew really had a great game, two goals for him tonight, I think this kid could be a 20+ goal scorer this season.....Goals were Crew had 2, Clackson and Squires each had one, and I believe Ben Miller netted his first career bronco goal to make it 5-1 near the end of the game on a diving rebound goal.....The broncos overall looked good, passing was good, they were hitting, racing to the puck...the only thing that needs improvement is the Powerplay.....with that many opportunities, I believe were like 1-9 on the PP....killing that 5-3 was huge at the end, this could have easily been a 3-3 game...Gill played well, made some nice saves, Mercyhurts goalie was really solid, he made some nice stops, including a stack the pads stop on Witkowski in the slot...In my oppinion, Officiating wasnt too strong, alot of inconsistency....as Kzoocolt mentioned....Tommorows game will be alot more physical, 3rd period was really physical and chippy....I really liked the lines that Cullhane had out there, they seemed to gell pretty well. Tommorow will be a long day, CMU/WMU football game at 3:30 then bronco hockey at 8!! GO BRONCOS!!!

RE: The official Broncos vs mercyhurst gamethread
Dane Walters netted his first career bronco goal.......Trevor Elias and Ben Miller had the assists.......Cullhane played every freshmen tonight except for Chaney.....according to USCHO's box score, they credited the 2nd bronco goal to Crew....Im almost positive that it was Squires....Squires meant to pass it to Crew but it hit off a Mercyhurst player and deflected in...anyways, the Squires/Crew/ and Campbell line all had 2 point nights......Campbell with 2 assists, Squires with one of each, and Crew with 2 goals.....

The saturday game will definitely be rougher and more physical, based on how it increase through Fridays game. Officiating was a little off (based on this untrained eye), and it really could affect the whole flow of the game. I was surprised when Riley Gill got tripped and tossed over backwards when he was outside the crease and they did not call anything.
Looks like they updated the box score and changed Squires goal to off of Crew, giving him a hat trick, and two assists to Squires.

RE: The official Broncos vs mercyhurst gamethread
Yeah Wmu.broncos.com said it hit off Crew's skate when squires tried to pass it in front....I thought it hit the Mercyhurst player....oh well, I am really impressed with Crew's play.....that 3rd goal was awesome, beating the mercyhurst defender in a race, breakaway, fakes like hes gonna go high, slips it on the ground low for the goal.....Im excited to watch this guy play this year....
