RE: Cajuns visit Bowling Green,KY......AGAIN!
couple of reasons zee my brutha.....one, it's colder than a well-diggers arse today.....two, it'll be all i can stand to freeze for the game as the attendance will be atrocious and the game even worse. three, i left my tickets at work and have just sent my son to go pick them up for me.

but i am manning up....no matter how bad we suck....and we do....i love my team. really enjoyed the hilltoppah hysteria last night. hoops can't get here soon enough.

you think there'll be many of your fans up here???

boudin, I'd ask your A.D. I'd like to hear the answer myself. We had to go to Denver two years in a row I think. It really is kinda messed up.

i've never seen him when he didn't look constipated.

oh yeah.... a lot of folks don't like that whole m.o.u. thing.

Waters was dealing what he had to work with - no money. When you had zero money to secure a bowl game, that is exactly what you get. He was able to line up some "back-up" agreements for these bowls if they had no other choices, but they did not want the Belt teams when the situation came about. Anyway - I can see how Waters would get the anger, but he just does what the Presidents want. They paid nothing for those MOU's and have another year to possibly get an invite for free.

Waters agreed to terms in a contract with the bowls, without fully reading it. For someone with a legal background to agree to terms without reviewing the contract, or not requesting some legal analysis of the terms reeks of incompetence. At the very least, he should have been reprimanded by the presidents of the SBC member institutions.04-chairshot

They are (and were) not contracts. They are MOU's - Memorandum of Understandings - there is a HUGE difference between a binding contract and an MOU - and yes, I know - in my work we use them EVERY DAY. They are simple agreements. The bowls got worried that with so many bowl games, they might not have enough teams thus causing them to cancel the game. But the games wanted to keep the power of choice. If we had a 7 win team, they would have HAD (by NCAA rules) to take us anyway... these MOU's were played up as contracts by the fans and the internet and they were never contracts. You get what you pay for and we paid for nothing - so we got nothing.

Stebo, I understand Memorandums are not contracts. It was Wright Waters that didn't understand this fact. It was Wright Waters that sold them as firm agreements to our Administrations at last years spring meetings. It was Wright Waters that had to review the agreements before commenting publicly after the Bowls referred to them. Sorry, you can't have it both ways my friend, either he didn't understand the agreements or he mislead our Administrations. This isn't internet information buddy, clearly you don't know all the facts. In either case, he is incompetent.

He has also decided to create his own rules for conference baseball programs, adding additional teeth to current NCAA rules regarding coaches and athletes ejections from baseball games. The coaches can only make written responses to the umpire game reports; they are not allowed to make their case to Waters. The NCAA already hands out suspensions for ejections; Mr. Waters granted himself the authority to add additional penalties on top of the NCAA. He is the only conference commissioner to have such a rule in place. All other conferences abide by the NCAA decision.

Finally, he has also involved himself in Louisiana politics. All member institutions should be treated in the same manner in regards to Sun Belt policies; this is not the case for my university. He has implemented this policy through inter office memo, which our administration has received via email and has been confronted on this in recent weeks. This is a guy that has biases against UL because he was shown the door and not named athletic director. We have plenty of people still associated with our program that know this guy too well.

He needs to go!!!05-mafia

Kiddos: If the teams in question won one more game, it wouldn't have been a problem. Waters (as sucky as I think he's been) can't win the games, and the SBC hasn't been the best bargaining chip either.

In hindsight, he probably did all that he could, and if the teams had won one more game, he'd have looked like a genius down in NOLA getting bowl games while giving almost nothing (assuming the MoU was honored).
