OSU may leapfrogg UC in the ratings this week. The Wisconsin victory was good enough to do that. 04-chairshot

OSU is now 7, and UC 8. However, 10 points separate them. So, I view that as a virtual tie (same as I do UC/TCU in the Coaches').

I will give them props...they beat a solid Whisky in a blow out....granted, it was at home....until OSU goes on the road, OUTSIDE of Ohio and beats a decent team, the verdict is still out on them in my book however.

osu doesnt even have to play iowa, even if iowa is overrated. the big ten is the biggest perception joke in sports. all the big ten blowhards think the conference is so tough. but weve found out indiana is still indiana. illinois sucks. northwestern barely beat miami of ohio at home (the same team UC beat by 24 or so at Miami in a rivalry game). Minnesota got beat at home by what has turned out to be a very very ordinary (at best) Cal team. Michigan State (lost to Central Mich at home), Michigan, and Wisconsin are all very mediocre teams (and beating Notre Dame is not a great feat Michigan fans). Purdue lost to MAC team (Northern Ill). Even Iowa barely beat freaking Arkansas State and Northern Iowa at home and OSU barely beat Navy at home. Big Ten is the worst of the BCS conferences.

youre right coop, i was looking at Mich States schedule and got mixed up on who doesnt play OSU this year. Doesnt change that Big Ten sucks and is worst BCS conference. Big XII and Sec are best and there is a fall off, but Big Ten isnt even what some think it is.

After the Big XII and SEC, there's a fall off. And you're wrong, OSU does play Iowa.

RE: UC doesn’t deserve higher ranking than Buckeyes
Gators, Tide give SEC top 2 teams
Associated Press

Alabama's steady rise in the rankings has left the Crimson Tide with a clear view of No. 1 Florida.

Alabama jumped Texas into second-place behind top-ranked Florida in the AP Top 25 on Sunday, giving the Southeastern Conference the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the country.

The Crimson Tide moved up one spot after rolling over Mississippi 22-3. Texas, which had been No. 2 all season, slipped a spot after sputtering early in a 38-14 victory against Colorado.

The Gators and Tim Tebow beat LSU 13-3. They have been an overwhelming No. 1 since the preseason, but support for Alabama has steadily grown.

Florida received 50 of 60 first-place votes from the media panel, a season low. The Crimson Tide received 10 first-place votes, up from five last week.

It's the second time in the past two seasons that Alabama and Florida have held the top two spots in the rankings. Last year, the Crimson Tide was No. 1 and the Gators No. 2 for two weeks before they played in the SEC title game.

Texas for the first time this season did not receive a first-place vote. The Longhorns might be able to get some support back by beating No. 20 Oklahoma on Saturday in the Red River Rivalry.

No. 4 Virginia Tech, No. 5 Boise State and No. 6 Southern California each moved up one spot.

In the battle for Ohio, Ohio State moved up to No. 7 and ahead of No. 8 Cincinnati after a 31-13 victory over previously unbeaten Wisconsin.

The Bearcats, who were idle Saturday and have a Big East showdown with No. 21 South Florida on Thursday night, were ahead of the Buckeyes in the rankings last week for the first time since 1951.

Miami is No. 9 and LSU dropped six spots to No. 10 after its first loss.

In the USA Today coaches' poll, Florida is No. 1, Texas is No. 2 and Alabama is No. 3. In the Harris Poll, the top three is the same as the AP poll. The coaches' poll and Harris poll are used in the BCS standings, which will be released next week for the first time this season.

In the AP Top 25, No. 11 Iowa had another narrow escape, beating Michigan 30-28 to stay unbeaten. No. 12 TCU also had a close call, but stayed undefeated with a 20-17 victory in the cold and wind against Air Force.

No. 13 is Oregon followed by Penn State and Nebraska, which vaulted six spots to 15th after beating Missouri on the road.

After the Cornhuskers are Big 12 rivals Oklahoma State and Kansas.

No. 18 is BYU, Georgia Tech is 19th and Oklahoma No. 20.

The final five has South Florida and South Carolina, then three teams that re-entered the rankings this week.

No. 23 Houston moved back into the rankings after beating Mississippi State 31-28 in Starkville.

No. 24 Utah rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Colorado State 24-17 and No. 25 Notre Dame got back into the AP rankings on an off week.

The Fighting Irish host USC on Saturday, with a chance to drop out or make a big move back up the rankings.

While the SEC holds the top two spots in the Top 25, the conference only has four ranked teams this week, down from six last week.

The Big 12 has the most ranked teams with five.

Ole Miss, which began the season in the top 10, dropped out of the rankings for the first time in 2009. Auburn also fell out after losing its first game of the season and Missouri dropped from the rankings.

A solid win over USF will probably move us back ahead of them. There are still a few AP voters that have us below 15.

Yep, especially since that game is on national tv with no legitimate competition. Wait a minute, I guess that means I'll have to tape FlashForward. 03-wink

What a bozo. Total SEC jock sniffer. Keeps LSU in the top 5, South Carolina in the top 15 and terrible Ole Miss in the top 20.

Complete joke.

To be honest with you, I don't think either of those conferences are super strong this year. Florida and Alabama both look very good, nobody else in the conference looks great. The Big 12 has Texas and then nobody else... and even Texas doesn't have me sold. Maybe OU will be better with Bradford back, but they still don't look overly strong. I think there is a lot of parity in the NCAA this year.

Part of that can be attributed to the Bradford's injury. If he's healthy, I don't think there's any question that they're still undefeated. Alabama followed by Florida have been the two most impressive teams in the country. I don't think it's even close. Thus, each conference has two top tier teams and very good depth in the rest of the conference. I view both those conferences similar to that of Big East basketball. Even in a down year by their standards, I still think they're the best.

There's an easy way to deal with outliers in the polls: eliminate the top 10% and bottom 10% of the votes for each team and tabulate those that remain.
If you did that in the AP poll this week, UC would still be slightly ahead of OSU and Buckeye fans would still be whining. But if it happened that OSU was ahead, it would still seem fairer - and easier to accept - than allowing one voter to get away with a ranking based on what is clearly a biased agenda.

I guess I'll split the difference between you two. I agree with coop that the SEC is top notch but I'm with mlb on the Big12 - they are overrated (by coop and mill at least). I guess part of the difference is I don't give what-if points (e.g. Bradford) - I go by performance. If a team's success is so tied to one individual, then it's their problem if he gets hurt, not mine (not that they, or anyone for that matter, cares anyway :) )

coop might be right that there is a fall off after two conferences this year - it's just that the two conferences are the SEC and ..... the Pac10.

My company is based in Madison, WI and therefore I know a lot of Badger fans. While watching tOSU game on Saturday I was texting with one big Badger fan midway thru the 1st half, and he said, and I quote "No matter what happens - I hate OSU. They'll get to a big bowl, play lousy, and make the Big Ten look bad again."

I laughed and resisted the temptation to tell him that the Big Ten truly isn't any better than the 4th or 5th best BCS conference.
