RE: Chicago Olympic bid loses in first round of voting,
OBAMA + Michelle x Oprah = ZERO!

Sorry, Chicago. And thank God the Olympics didn't choose the US. Of course, the media will accuse the IOC of being racists, basing their decision on how much the rest of the world hated GWB and anti-Americanism. No telling how much payola and corruption we would have seen had they chosen the Windy City.

Oh! ....and thank you for your "sacrifice", Michelle and Oprah.

What a waste of time and millions of dollars of taxpayer money. The Olympics are becoming increasingly unimportant and insignificant in the world. I hope Rio De Janero wins.

Rio wins as expected.

I think that Obama actually probably lost votes for the US. Rio was the natural choice since they have never hosted and the time zone is compatible with the US.

I have never seen Americans happy at a failed Olympic bid. Welcome to the world of uber-partisan politics.

This is great. I've always wanted to go to Rio and here's one more excuse to head down there.

I couldn't afford any decent event when the Games were in UT.
Does not this event cater to the evil wealthy in America?

They DID pick Rio, hence the crime reference.

Did I say I was happy? I would have been glad to have seen it in Chicago. The Olympics committee is composed of a lot of countries that have anti-American sentiment. Obama's visit probably made them feel like they were being strong armed. Others say that the Asian blocks voted for Tokyo on the first round which is why Chicago went down so fast.

Chicago will be okay. They still have the Cubs. 03-nutkick

It's not about just Chicago, it's about America losing out on the opportunity.

Oh well, we'll continue to dominate the world by winning the gold so those haters can suck on that.

We were in a worse economic funk when awarded the 1996 games in Atlanta and I don't remember Amercians openly cheering against that bid. IT AINT the ECONOMY STUPID!. Its an unhealthy hate of anything the President supports. State & local governments, along with the private sector, foot 99.9% of an Olympic bid. If you were a citizen of Chicago or Illinois, then I MIGHT understand some of the concern about the cost, but a dude from Memphis?

No, in the end Chicago and the United States lost because there is much anti-American sentiment on the International Olympic Committee board. By the way, where was Micheal Jordan to come support the city where he became rich and famous, the city of Chicago? All of the voters of Asia voted for Tokyo as well that allowed Chicago to be voted out of the first round with the least amount of votes.
