James White's a Nugget
Has this been posted? It's new to me. Just another step for any Bearcat playing in the NBA.

Seems like every former Bearcat of the last 15 years has played for the Nuggets at some point in their NBA careers.

Its like there is some kind of law requiring it.

Hmmm I wonder where Max goes when his contract ends with Detroit...

Wasn't their rumor in the mid to late 90s that the Denver Nuggets went hard after Bob Huggins to take their head coaching position?

You're probably right, but the two I remember most vividly were the Cavs and the Clippers.

George Karl and Huggins are close friends, that might have something to do with the recent trend.

For what it's worth, the Miami Heat were the closest Huggs ever came to taking an NBA job.

I forgot about the Heat. The Clippers were the ones I remember most prominently.

Let's get Maxiell over to the Nuggets and then we'll have a "Cincinnati" NBA franchise to follow!

Actually...the ABA used to do this...they'd change the draft order to allow the local college stars to play for the ABA franchise in that area...might be something for struggling NBA franchises to consider...

The Pacers are at Death's Door...which is a shame, really...

The NBA used to have "regional" drafts as well. That is how Oscar ended up as a Royal.

I'm not 100% on this...but I really think Bob Costas made a reference to the Miami Heat looking at Huggins during half-time or pre-game of an NBA Playoff game that also featured a slow speed chase of a white bronco. I know he said it...I'm pretty sure it was the same game.

Remember back when there was a little talk of the Spurs moving here right before the David Robinson era? Then there was talk some years later about a new arena being built somewhere away from downtown. I remember it had an odd name, but I can't remember what it was. I want to say the name had something to do with horses because I remember a guy on 700 saying it hinted to the Mavericks coming here. What was the name of that place?

Never any NBA talk anymore.

It's tough to get an expansion NBA franchise to go these days...you'd have to hope that, say, we got the Royals back from Sacramento or something to that effect. I remember how competitive the Pacers were back in the early 90's, and they are almost a dead franchise now...I'd HATE to see them go under, as they were one of the few survivors from the old ABA.

You can see Pacer games for $5.00/seat now...that's how far they've fallen. Not that I mind the price, but it says something about your franchise when seats go that low...

I've always hoped pro basketball would come back to Cincinnati and we'd get a chance to see local talent play pro ball on a regular basis downtown...but I doubt it will happen in the near future....

Incidentally, I was one of the people that signed that WLW petition to buy season tickets if we ever DID get a pro team....04-cheers

Before the Royals came to Cincinnati, they were the Rochester (NY) Royals.

I guess the name came from their residency in the "Empire" state...it just so happened that the name fit when they re-located to the Queen City.

I always thought that regional names should stay with the region...

The Lakers franchise name should have stayed in Minnesota
The Jazz franchise name should have stayed in New Orleans
The Cardinals name should have stopped in St. Louis (even though they were the Chicago Cardinals before that)
The Rams name should have stayed in Los Angeles (even though they were the Cleveland Rams before that)
They kept the Browns in Cleveland...which I thought was appropriate...

I just think that if it was a name that originated or reflects something about the region...the name should stay in that region.
