So what is the feeling about this week's game? I think this might one of our few winnable games left on the schedule. It will not be easy. I am saying 21-20 provided we can keep the offense going and run the ball effectively.

RE: Campbell at Davidson
Davidson seems to be down this year. Not sure how much, though. They've yet to score this year vs Elon and L-R. I think CU can keep it close.....at least more so than last year (0-49). I'll say Cats by 1.

Who's going? Might be as many CU fans as DC fans. I'll be there...hopefully in dry weather.

Davidson's board:

(They've already covered all the quips about "humps", Camel cigs, and soup.)

I'm not touching this one with a 10 foot pole! My obvious excitement for the program sometimes gets in the way of sound judgement. I'm hoping Campbell wins, but I will be the 1st to admit that I am very unfamilar with the PFL and teams. However, I say Campbell pullls this one out in a close one...

Another loss. Defense played well. The offense had troubles.

Lot of orange at Davidson Saturday night. I'd say 40% CU fans (total attendance 4200).

24-7 was better than 49-0. Some improvement. Still some bad play calling in critical situations.

I think this was our best chance to win a PFL game. Maybe Valpo.

ODU also announced they were bringing back football the same time as us and waited the extra year to make sure everything was completed before they played a game (stadium, team, staffing, etc). ODU should be the model of how to start a football program. Campbell unfortunately is not. I am willing to bet Georgia State follows the ODU model and not ours. Also the ability to hand out athletic scholarships makes a huge difference in the caliber and type of athlete you can recruit. For non-scholarship programs it takes years to actually get the sort of athletes you need developed. Scholarship programs always have the pick of those athletes when all other things are equal.

I still think Valpo could be a winnable game. That is the one that I have circled on the calender as our next chance to get a win looking at the rest of our schedule.

Again, they are the model for how a program should be started and we are not. It is something we both can agree on. I feel their administration took on the sport of football with the intention of making it a competitive program. Our administration made the decision to try to just use it to increase enrollment and bring money into the university after the few initial start up costs that still haven't even been completed yet (the second year of the program and five years after it was announced that football was coming back). The same thing will happen when Georgia State comes to town next year. They will be a first year program but one that was built right with the right leadership and the consultants. We went cheap. Others that started at about the same time (Bryant, Georgia State and Old Dominion) did not and it reflects on the field.

The two teams Old Dominion played also were not on their scholarship level (I-AA). Plus ODU has a much better class of athlete to look at being located where they are. It will not be pretty when we go there. I just hope our guys can escape relatively injury free.

I think it has something to do with the amount of cash. Period. I could be mistaken, but I believe that Old Dominion has a stadium that seats close to 20,000, and I read they had sold out every home game. That would be incredible. I just don't believe Campbell has that cash and support to take the steps Old Dominion did, regardless of any 'leader' they could summon.

The reason is scholarships. Whether or not the stadium is finished has nothing to do with it. ODU beat Jacksonville because they are using scholarship rather than non-scholarship players. The only reason it was close was because ODU is in its first year. Let them play in a couple of years and you will have a blowout in favor or ODU.

There were some on here that thought we would beat ODU. What were they smoking?
