Houston Nutt's Encore
It will be interesting to watch the Ole Miss FB team this year. Can coach Nutt continue to win? They struggled against Memphis today especially on offense. Could be Memphis is better than you would imagine. Time will tell.

Yea Gene, sorta like Arkansas yesterday. Missouri State was better than most pundits thought. That's why Arkansas had a close nail biter. Good thing Nutt wasn't the coach, or he'd have eaten his nails down to the knuckles.
You know, while I enjoy seeing the Trojans win against anyone, D-1, D-2, or NAIA(Lord I hope we don't do that one again), but I never leave the gym as high as these hog fans do when they've beaten Hooterville U. Listening to them, the press, and media having their weekly orgasms, national championship coming right up.

Close one..? Sure, whatever.
Ryan Mallett is the real deal. It's good to have a QB that can throw the ball down field.

I was at the game and saw some good things, but some weren't so good. I wasn't that impressed with the defense. I'm still not sure the Hogs are there on defense. Probably better than last year, but not certain it's a legitimate SEC defense yet. But there is talent, and let's see how they do against Georgia before making any definite observations.
Mallett has a rocket arm and I like Tyler Wilson's ability to move out of the pocket and find receiver when necessary. Probably the best one-two punch at quarterback since I've been following the Hogs football.
Predictions are very difficult at this point because of the difficulty of the schedule. Seven wins would probably be pretty good. Anything above that would be fantastic. No doubt they'll win at least six and get to some minor bowl if that happens to be their total. But they'll be fun to watch. I didn't know you could throw the ball on the first play of the game. I thought you had to run off tackle or up the middle. Isn't that known as the Houston Nutt rule?
I know this is our UALR board, but since we're part of the University system, and Trojans don't play football, Fayetteville is our (maybe not your) football team. So in essence, I'm saying the Hogs are actually the Trojans until we move into the 21st century and finally start a football program. My sermon is over.

I'm not so sure. The SEC is brutal and we're the Hogs are on the road a bunch. I can somewhere between 5 and 7. The key games to me are Auburn (at Fayetteville) and So Carolina (also at Fayetteville).
MoSt
A&M
Auburn (?)
East Mich
USC (?)
Troy
Miss St
The OMG games include
Georgia
Bama
Florida
Ole Miss
LSU

I figured I'd at least hear from LRT. My post might have shocked him so much it's taking him a few minutes to get composed enough to write a responce taking me to task.

No, I just tuned in, and no, your post doesn't shock me. I've always known you had some pork in you Doc. And, you've never tried to hide it. I don't hold it against you, as I don't hold it against Scotto or any other hog fan. I know both of you(and there are others who support both)are good Trojan fans, and I appreciate any fan who supports the Trojans. You are correct, the hogs are not my team, and never will be again. And too, it doesn't bother me if you start a hog thread on this board. I can either ignore it, or comment. But, hopefully God will bless all you misguided children.

You can rest assured that when the Trojans play the Hogs, whether it be in football or basketball, I'll be pulling for the Trojans. But there is an advantage to not playing each other. I can root for both without feeling bad about it. Having two teams to root for is better than one. Best case scenario. Trojans and Hogs meet in the finals of the NCAA basketball tournament. I'd pull for the Trojans, but wouldn't be entirely disappointed if the Hogs won. Win-win situation.
