RE: WVU Tickets
I wish our fans would step up to the plate; however, If 5,000 WVU fans show up and 30,000 UC show up that would be ok with me. I actually like it when the opposing team has a nice side crowd at game. I think it adds to the experience when a school a brings a lot fans, their marching band, and cheerleaders. It gives the game a rivalry feel to it. That being said UC should always have at least 28,000 of our own fans at Nippert in these types of situations. I plan on going to Oxford for the first time, and hope that we bring a nice UC contigent to Miami University

A "side crowd" of 5,000 drunken 'eer fans is not a pretty sight. 03-puke

When the single game tickets go on sale WVU fans will probably buy whatever is remaining.

Why did the ticket office process the order? Obviously you can't buy 600 tickets unless UC sells them to you.

Because that is their job, sell tickets. To me, the more compelling story is
how can Cincy fans, Alumni etc not sell this game out themselves? Also,
what I think happened is that the local WVU alumni association placed a
placed a "group" ticket order or what would be considered a special order.
It is possible that these fans did not join ucats but season tixs etc, they did place an order for 600 tixs though.

Typical Cincinnati. It's the ticket office's fault. Of course. Why didn't I realize that before?

Whomever the UCATS member is that spent $35k on football tickets, I hope they get recognition on the scoreboard as a group. 'eer money is as good as Bearcat money.

This game would have easily sold out. This is just surprising to me that it was aloud to happen. I realize that they need to sell the tickets but they should limit the number until a certain date and then let people buy unlimited amounts. Unless it was a group thing and then I don't know how you would regulate it.

RE: WVU Tickets
I looked further into this and I was informed that the guy who bought the tickets was a friend of Huggin's over in West Virginia. He was asking Huggs if he knew anyone at UC(or with pull at UC) who could help him get 600 tickets. Huggs told him he could beat the system by making the small required donation to UCats and then just purchasing the tickets from the office and that it would not require a favor from anyone at UC.

Mission Accomplished. I hope the hillbillies next to me at least have sleeves on their blue and gold t-shirts.

Also, I think Huggs might have had to buy two tickets for the same reason that the airlines require certain people to buy two seats for one head.

By what date would this game have easily sold out? You mean UC fans will sell the game out. Individual tickets go on sale Monday, I bet more WVU fans buy them than UC fans. Honestly, UC Alums and fans should be able to
gobble up 25,000 season tickets (that leave 3,000 for the visiting team and 6,000 for students). I don't think the athletic office should have to hold back selling
tickets, in the hope that UC fans will open up their wallet in October.

Before this urban legend grows out of control I will present the facts, which are abundantly absent from the majority of the posts on this thread.

WVU, nor their Alumni Association joined UCATS.

A local WVU Alumni did call our office to purchase group tickets to the game. Thus, they exercised the same opportunity that anyone who calls our ticket office has the chance to empower. When this order is processed this week the seats in the package are on the West Side of Nippert Stadium in the NON-UCATS reserved section with a small number of seats in the southeast corner of the upper deck in the top rows of the stadium.

There is no system beating going on as this whole process is detailed in the 2009 UC Football season ticket brochure that was released to the public via mail and electronically at GoBEARCATS.com in April. If reading is considered beating the system, then, well, I just don't know what to say.

For group ticket information, click here:

For any other information per tickets and UC Football click here:
http://www.gobearcats.com/tickets/cinn-t...tball.html

Tickets have been on sale since March so for the better part of 5.5 months UC fans have had the chance to buy group tickets, season tickets, etc... Come Monday individual game tickets will be on sale.

As for locking out fans of other teams, the only way to do that is for UC Fans to buy all the tickets so that there are not any left. Frankly, after general public sales begin in less than 48 hours I expect a large number of UC fans and sidewalk alumni to call and order individual game tickets, mini plans, and group tickets. this is a great home schedule and we the areas only championship team in any sport.

Our group sales team has been pushing large groups around the Tri-State Area all spring and summer, working all week plus every Saturday and Sunday with our BEARCAT CARAVAN and interacting with most every youth football, baseball, softball and soccer organization that exists. Add in the other groups that we have contact with and our sales team has done a fantastic job at marketing UC Athletics at the grass roots level. Getting kids into the stadium along with their teams and coaches is not just an attendance boost, it's a long term recruiting strategy for UC's future fan, student and athlete development. This is why group sales are a big part of our sales push. If other groups from outside the area want to put together a bus or caravan of cars, come to Nippert and tailgate all day, and bring some additional college football spirit to the plate then hooray for them. Our numbers are growing and sooner than you think we will see the day when our stadium is consistently sold out, and well in advance of any game being played. 2009 has the highest sales in advance of the season in UC history and it will only get better in 2010, 2011 and beyond. Add in a great men's basketball season upcoming, a dynamic new coach and vision for women's basketball at UC, plus all-star coaches in our other sports and there has never been a better time to be a Bearcat.

Now that the pep talk is done... remember, 1-877-CATS-TIX or http://www.CATSTIX.com.

See you at Kings Island on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Bearcats Day... it's going to be a great time!

Thanks Mike. Maybe the conspiracy theorists here can give up their BS. Try taking ownership of the program instead of getting mad at the administration for following the rules they published.

I don't see this as anything to panic about. If WVU fans want to attend, they'll buy their tickets, either from that schmuck, or directly from the UC ticket office.

RE: WVU Tickets
UC made a mistake and should not have sold the tickets to the WV group. What has effectively happened is that UC fans that can only go to a few games or one game are not getting tickets to WV while UC allowed WV to buy 600 additional tickets. Perhaps in the future the ticket office will be smart enough not to sell group tickets to the U of L and WV games to groups not affiliated with UC or the surrounding community. Sales to the alumni and UCATS members should be ahead of group sales for big games. That's just common sense!

Yes, I am joking. I was just having some fun. I am glad Mike posted something about it though.

I have no idea who Huggin's is. It must have been the IPA typing that one.

Child Please.....its just $50 bucks to join UCATS. The alumni base has had over 5 months to secure tickets. If you can only make a few games then make an effort to share tickets, or purchase a couple of games from a friend in UCATS, or buy the season and sell what you don't need on Ebay or StubHub.

More excuses, but at least this year I have not read a single post about playing on the wrong night or before school starts or when its too cold. That's progress!
