I am not trying to make a pun, but considering how strict gun laws are in the State of New York and especially in New York City, Plexico Buress got off easy in the end. He will be out of football for two years by accidental shooting and almost killing himself with a loaded gun with the safety off. Considering he hurt no one but himself, the punishment does indeed fit the crime.

Depending on the true criminal intent of his actions before he shot himself I can understand a multitude of different punishments. He shot himself and that should reasonably be enough punishment.

Personally, I don't think the NFL should allow anyone to play who has committed a felony.

That will not happen in the near future regarding their rules. Since the NFL can determine at what round a football player can enter in to play in the National Football Feague and at what time, almost like a private club.

RE: Buress to serve 2 years
Quote:Hours after Burress' court appearance, the NFL announced that commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended the receiver and said Burress is ineligible to sign with any team until he completes his prison term. After that, Burress may sign with an NFL team without further review.

So let's get this straight....Vick kills DOGS...Burress takes a gun into a crowded nightclub..Dante Stallworth KILLS a MAN...and Vick has to sit out part of this season....Stallworth will likely get a 1 season suspension...and Burress will have to serve NO suspension because:

Quote:Goodell, who met with Burress and his representatives last week, decided the case didn't need to be reviewed again later because he already had decided to suspend Burress for one season,

It's not just selective justice, it's justice with no rhyme nor reason.

That jumble of penalties makes absolutely no sense.

I would suspect their would be quite a LARGE influx of talent into Canadian Football League if that were to happen.
