RE: “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages...........
No matter...They do not read the bills anyway. They have staff read them and give them the synopsis. It should be mandated that the bill be read in its entire form in session before voting. You think the bills would be 1000 pages if they had to sit and listen to it being read? Goto: DownsizeDC.org...they have been pushing this for awhile.

You don’t remember Conyers’ famous remark in Fahrenheit 911 when Moore was bitching about the Patriot Act? He said back then that they don’t read Bills in Congress.

There's not wonder why our country is f'ed up as Hogan's goat now and why we have more laws on the damn books than sand on Mexico Beach, Fl.

2004 interview with Obama the most Transparent:
Quote:BARACK OBAMA: ...When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them.
RANDI RHODES: 14 pounds it was!
BARACK OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate then these kinds of things happen. And I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

I find myself in agreement with all of you. What do we need the 432 congressman and 100 senators, and a president if the staff and lobbyists are writing the laws. It was widely reported (here also) that the stimulus bill had notes handwritten in the margins, things crossed out at the last minute, a total farce, everyone admitted they did not read it, and the people were silent. It's a pity America has become a nation of apathetic dolts . A drift in values. Lacking courage or vision. casting fate to the wind. Listen and you will hear our enemies laughing at us.

Bills longer than War and Peace should not be allowed to go through as quickly as they do, if at all. That's how you get all of that BS in there because you know that the staff doesn't read it all either. It's just a bunch of skimming and highlighting. I bet I can put a line like, "$100,000 is to be given to BM2 Richardson as a bonus for all of the painting he has done", around the third line of the 553rd page of a budget and nobody would notice it.

I don't think he recognizes Pelosi, Murtha and Franken and legit members. I don't.
Why not they were elected by their voters?
I really don't recognize ANY of these scumbag control freaks. I do however have to just sit and take it while they pick my pockets. They have the monopoly on the use of force.

I believe that demanding the full bill be read is one of the fillibuster tactics that can be employed. I seem to remeber relatively recently when the Democrats had a speed reader on hand in case the Republicans demanded the full bill be read (I think the Republicans decided that would be too much pain to bear so they passed).
You can make them read it, but you can't make them listen.
