Wink Greastest Players of all time survey
Before i post what you will be debateing on i would like to speak on some things.... i posted a long topic prob 7 months ago. right around when app state beat wofford 70 somethin to 20 somethin.. it was about when i was a little boy watching a program freakin turn into dust.if you havent seen it i suggest you read it. but somethings was on my mind.. 1 is the outdoor stadium that everyone wants.. 03-banghead the dome was great.. poorly desinged but great.. needed a upgrade really bad. but it was great.. perfect weather i didnt have to worry about a coat inside the dome. im sorry but if we built a outdoor stadium most people would hate it... i just could see it now.. sittin thier hearing the old people complain about the weather about people cheering cause you dont come to football games to cheer. lol a out door stadium would not work it would be a waste of money. its cheeper to upgrade the dome to fit the football needs. then to spend so much money on a stadium that will be filled up once thats home opener.but after that its just goin to be the die hard buc fans all 2000 of us cheering..to make a long story short i loved the dome!!!!! it was awesome... i would take the dome over any socon schools besdies app states lol04-bow it just needs a upgrade... okay here is the real post now that is off my chest...

okay i was thinkin the other day who is the best all time buc player at thier postion. what was the best buc moment at the dome. and away... the best coach... here are my opions you just copy my postions

Best QB- todd wells i would go with greg ryan but for the simple fact that todd was the all time socon leader in all purpose yards intill armanti edwards broke it.

Best RB- this one is hard alot of great running backs have came threw are program. but im goin with who i got to see.. Brandon Walker. he was a very good player.

Best WR- this one is easy BJ Adigun boy oh boy did i love watching him play.. i know most of you will say cecil moore. but what i seen at appstate 97 when he just tore up appstate

Best Linebacker-Derek Fudge he was a beast lol when he had 21 tackels for loss in 96 hands down on this one

Best Conerback- ill go with Tony tiller he was a very good conerback had alot of big time pics.

Best Saftey- Gerald Sensabaugh hands down he was a amazing saftey.. i think he still plays in the nfl. but not sure if the jagurs kept him.. but north carolina should thank us.. lol

Best Kicker-Jerry Chapman he was a very clutch kicker watched very little of him but what i saw of him he was a very good kicker..

Best Coach- wow i have to go with Paul hamilton i know he never took us to the playoffs or anything. but he was a good coach.. you can hate on him now after the program is gone but you cant say he wasnt a stuck up coach. he was a nice guy. gave etsu some its biggest victorys in history...

The best Dome moment- no question 2001 GSU game where we beat the #1 team in the land.. still goes down and one of the biggest shockers in socon history..

The best Road moment- 1997 app state game we beat the 51-28 all i can remeber is coach hamilton jumping into the stands after the game and huggin his wife lol

i know all of these are recent memories but im only 19. so i know thier will be diff opions of this..... but have fun with this. this can be fun release of all the frustrations of this rebirth of etsu football

didnt check spelling lol so just bare with me.

He signed with Dallas a few months back.

ETSU: 35
Chattanooga: 0

Chattanooga was #1 in the conference that day.

Quarterback, Mark Hutsell (sp?) was Sports Illustrated's College Player of the Week

RE: Greastest Players of all time survey
qb-- I'll go with Greg Ryan with Todd Wells a close second.
rb- Brandon Walker, but have to mention George Searcy. And Herman Jacobs when he was on.
wr--BJ Adigun
safety--Sensabaugh, also great at blocking punts.
linebacker/lineman--Derek Fudge and James Russell
kicker--Mike Shoun partly because he was a friend of mine
coach--John Robert Bell because of his big seasons and for what he has meant to the university over the years.
dome moment--Herman Jacobs 200+ yard game vs. the Citadel and the 35-0 shalacking of UTC.
road moment-- App State in 1997 and VT in the late 80s. Bucs played the Hokies tough with All-American punter Cimadevilla doing his thing.

I grew up near Blacksburg and have now become a VT supporter in the fall.

Great choices and some great players. One player I have to put near the top at Running Back is Earl Ferrell. I thought he was great.

I think we have to put Thane Gash up there too and he was very tough and very good.

RE: Greastest Players of all time survey
I agree with most of you, I would just change a few around.

QB-- Greg Ryan
RB-- Brandon Walker was the best RB I remember. I never saw Earl Ferrell play but I heard he was really good and he had a nice career in the NFL, even made the pro bowl a few times.
WR--BJ Adigun I still can't believe this guy never got a shot at the NFL
Cornerback--Donnie Abraham. He had a good career in the NFL too, led the league in INTs one year and made the Pro Bowl
Safety--Sensabaugh was great.
Linebacker/lineman-- James Russel
Kicker--Jonathan Godfrey just because he hit the game winner against The Citadel in the final football game for the Bucs
Coach--Mike Cavan he brought unbelievable talent to ETSU and took us to our only 1-AA playoffs and a win.
Dome moment--Beating GSU when they were #1 and of course the last game against The Citadel when we won on a last second kick. I will also add the Marshall game in 1996. I know we lost that game but it was the only time I ever saw the dome packed full for football. It was a wonderful sight.
Road moment-- App State in 1997 and beating NC State in Raleigh in the 80's

I like your pics Bucster
I would change one or two

For QB-Larry Graham
I would put Guy in at one of the DBs

Both From the Grantland Rice Bowl era. I posted a link to that game on another thread .

RE: Greastest Players of all time survey
No mentions of Cecil Moore either? No one mentions the pure ASS BEATING we put on UT-C in the last season?
How about an award for bittersweet moment? The last game when the winning kick sailed through the uprights to win the game, as sad as it was, what a way to temporarily go out, it's the kind of stuff that movies are made of. I can't put together a complete all time team because I don't know enough about the early teams and it would be disrespectful to leave off someone who clearly belongs there.
That being said, football is an outdoor sport, Chattanooga's stadium is great but would be better on campus. Old people die and don't want to spend money, take the Florida/Jeremy Foley approach and attract young fans, it looks like it's worked out okay there.

That ass whooping of UTC was unbelievable. One of my favorite all time games BL. Would like to see video of that game again !

And Cecil Moore deserves his props too.

Cecil Moore was great and if not for B.J Adigun I would have voted for Cecil.
