June 28, 2009

NORFOLK, VA--Dan Hudson (ODU '08) moved up to the White Sox AA team and won his debut, while Justin Verlander ('04) leads the American Lead with 124 strikeouts, thus far.

Hudson, a righthander from Virginia Beach, Va. Was called up from Winston-Salem to the Chicago White Sox AA team in Birmingham, AL., on Jun 20th. Hudson wasted no time as he pitched the Barons to a 8-1 victory over the Huntsville Stars. Hudson, a two-time All-CAA selection allowed just one unearned run in seven innings and struck out eight batters. It marked his fourth consecutive start of striking out exactly eight batters; The previous were with Winston-Salem. Hudson started the season with Kannapolis.

Justin Verlander is currently 8-3 with a 3.40 ERA for Detroit. He currently leads the American League In strikeouts with 124 which also ties him with Tim Lincecum of San Francisco for the Major League lead.
