Why wouldn't Fred Smith want to get involved with overall the most sucessful sports business in the world. You ever heard sell low and buy high? He can buy for NFL standards the Rams at a low price, and then make a big profit when he sells the franchise ten or twenty years down the road. How big of a sponsor is FedEx, the company he founded, of the NFL? The NFL would be stupid not to consider him a serious ownership group for the St. Louis Rams. St. Louis is only a one hour flight from Memphis, by the way.

I don't think he would move them to Memphis though. They would need a stadium, and there's no guarantee the fanbase would jump ship from the Titans.

I'm telling you right now, an NFL team in Memphis would be the hottest ticket in town. Whether the team comes to Memphis is another story.

Would FedEx have to stop being a sponsor of the NFL?

I'd jump in a heartbeat, and with a smile on my face.

Love the Titans, but I'd jump on with a Memphis team without qestion.

From the article
Quote:If Smith were to purchase the Rams, he’d have to sell his interest in the Redskins.

I'll always be a Buc at heart, but I, too, would throw my support to a Memphis NFL team.

I mean I root for the Titans, but my NFL gear, etc. is Tampa Bay. I'd start buying Memphis gear, etc. if it ever happened.

I'd be surprised to see it anytime soon.

The Titans would scream "territorial rights" from the mountaintops if he tried moving the Rams to Memphis.I know Birmingham is considered to be in Atlanta's territory & can't be considered for a team unless the Falcons moved.

I hope he passes on the deal. No chance of moving the team so Fred will be pending a lot of time in St Louis and will be getting to know the StL business commun8ity and government a lot better. Who knows if they may make him a killer deal to move FedEx. Also any money he spends on NFL cuts into potential Tiger money.
