Holden is doing well and still in our possession, I understand. But you have to wonder about how long that's going to last. They have right side steering wheels and that's always been a niche demand for GM. Whereas it's the same in Japan, so how competitive can we be?

Or other gold backed currencies.

You still seem to think there are easy solutions, Dip

Phil, I'm no economist, but 2nd grade math will tell you, if you owe all of your neighbors money, you're not going to get out of debt by going on a wild spending spree. So far that's been B.O.'s plan.

Our hope and change ain't going so well. Obama had predicted "that with the stimulus spending, the U.S. unemployment rate this year would not exceed 8%. It now stands at 9.4%." Solution. Let's start the largest government program in our history, national healthcare. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-weeping03-weeping03-weeping

I do both.

Dip, if we were to go from a 1 1/2 Trillion Dollar deficit to NO Deficit in a year or two it'd put the US economy on the rocks. You'd see MASSIVE unemployment on the order of 30-40%, minimum.

Like it or not a major portion of the US economy is built on government spending. It never should have been that way, but we've had decades of increasing the size of government and that won't change overnight.

It would take many decades of consistent and steady cost-cutting to prune down the size of government in a politically acceptable way, IF the will to do so was there. And it isn't.

Finally, as much as you hate to criticise Bush in any way, shape or form he is equally to blame as Obama. If Bush had only HELD government spending at 2000 Fiscal Year levels (instead of letting it grow by 7-8% every year) our problems today would be significantly less. He didn't because he is no conservative-and here we are.

It's like telling my niece we can't go to the park because the car is broke down Phil. Won't matter how you say it, all she hears is we're not going.
