Bonnie and Clyde
There has been a lot of stuff in the news lately about B&C, as the 75th anniversary of their deaths on may 23, 1934 was just a few days ago.

For those few of you who aren't familiar with the story, they were killed by a posse of six lawmen who waited for them in ambush. I believe about 140 rounds were fired at and into them.

If this happened today, those six lawmen would be facing murder charges, the ACLU would be involved, and the relatives of B&C would be rich from the lawsuits. Back then they were heroes.

Times have changed.

RE: Bonnie and Clyde
If it happened today, we'd be able to follow the chase from their first or second heist by helicopter followed by a loss of control and eventual apprehension:

Nah, I'm thinking it would have been a gunbattle against a bunch of SWAT members. Or maybe something out of the big bank robbery in Heat.

Few people realize that the weapons used in the ambush against B & C were military Browning Automatic Rifles that emptied a 20 round box magaine of 30.06 in about 5 seconds.

Six or seven guys with BAR's can make a mess in a hurry.

RE: Bonnie and Clyde
1934 was not a good year for gangsters. John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd were all killed the same year, and
Dutch Schultz and Ma Barker were killed the next year. The lawmen were led by Capt. Frank Hammer of the Texas Rangers who seems like a pretty interesting person in his own right. He said he 'hated to bust a cap on a woman, but it was her or us.' One of the former members of their gang said Bonnie never fired a shot but was a hell of a loader. Stories have said she was normally reserved but would become a tigress if she thought Clyde was being threatened. There was a story on B and C on Sunday Morning last week. One of the points they made was that the gang robbed just as many filling stations and mom and pop stores as they did banks.

If they were around today, they might be doing celebrity endorsements:
