Wise had to lobby the Virginia legislature for the money for their convocation center. That's fundraising at its most fundamental level.

Now should we move to LMU and look at their progress as they execute their plans? No, I think I've made my point.

I'm off my soapbox and back in my hole now. Facts just seem to get in the way for some folks.

So with all of the economic problems we have, you think that ETSU athletics should be getting a pretty large piece of that pie from the legislature? That's interesting. And I didn't know that taxpayer money paying for your athletics facilities is fundraising at its mots fundamental level. According to who? Oh right, you, the expert.

Virginia (operating in the same economic downturn as Tennessee) doesn't spend state money for athletics, yet agreed to build a Convocation Center for Wise. Hmmmm, seems like fantastic fundraising at it's most fundamental level to me, but hey as you graciously pointed out, I'm no expert.

Dang, don't you just hate it when facts get in the way?

I am impressed how GoBucsGo has completely ignored the other $50 million in private fundraising. If we can do it in Wise, with a small alumni base, why can't ETSU do it with such a large base?

And hello, isn't that what we would be using the new arena for as well, a convocation center (to replace the dome)? Seems like some pretty smart fundraising to me as well. Maybe ETSU just hasn't made it that far in their thinking yet. Reactive rather than proactive...always one step behind. Just think if ETSU's athletes played like their administration thinks!

Too busy raising money for a new tennis center? :sly:

Seriously, this one baffles me. After the success of both teams during the past few years, and the obvious shortcomings of the dome as a basketball facility; it seems like this should be priority #1. 03-confused
