"Freedom is not Free"!
Originally this had pictures of our overseas cemeteries. The IMG did not take. And my Delete does not work either. So here it is.

This Memorial Day please never forget that "freedom is not free"!
Our European sacrifices, in alphabetical order

1. The American Cemetery at Aisne-Marne, France. A total of 2289 of our military dead.

2. The American Cemetery at Ardennes, Belgium. A total of 5329 of our dead.

3. The American Cemetery at Brittany, France. A total of 4410 of our military dead.

4. Brookwood , England American Cemetery. A total of 468 of our dead.

5. Cambridge, England. 3812 of our military dead.

6. Epinal, France American Cemetery. A total of 5525 of our military dead.

7. Flanders Field, Belgium. A total of 368 of our military dead.

8. Florence, Italy. A total of 4402 of our military dead.

9. Henri-Chapelle, Belgium. A total of 7992 of our military dead.

10. Lorraine, France.A total of10489 of our military dead.

11. Luxembourg, Luxembourg. A total of 5076 of our military dead.

12. Meuse-Argonne. A total of 14246 of our military dead.

13. Netherlands, Netherlands . A total of 8301 of our military dead.

14. Normandy, France. A total of 9387 of our military dead.

15. Oise-Aisne, France. A total of 6012 of our military dead.

16. Rhone, France. A total of 861 of our military dead.

17. Sicily, Italy. A total of 7861 of our military dead.

18. Somme, France. A total of 1844 of our military dead.

19. St. Mihiel, France. A total of 4153 of our military dead.

20. Suresnes, France. A total of 1541 of our military dead.

For this we should apologize to no one. Remind everyone of our sacrifices
and don't confuse arrogance with leadership. By the way, this doesn't count
those buried in North Africa or the Middle East.

If I added correctly the count is 104,366 dead. Fair warning that we must watch any American elected leader (guess who?) that betrays us by apologizing to Europe and the Middle East for our country's "arrogance"!

Freedom has never been "Free" ....

It has cost more in Shed Blood than the worth of all the Gold on Earth.

We must NEVER forget this .... EVER.

Political rant? How come Europe, Viet Nam, S Korea and other countries we spilled blood for aren't thanking us on this day? The freedoms they have now came at the cost of our fathers, brothers and sons. Personally, I resent their silence.

And if what Sum wrote got under your skin then I can only imagine how worked up you get when Code Pink protests the funerals of fallen soldiers.

RE: "Freedom is not Free"!
There is a reason the WWII veterans are referred to as the greatest generation. Never as one generation sacrificed so much to keep America free. Sadly over the past 16+ years the young people in this nation have forgotten NOT ONLY that sacrifice, but what happened about 8 years ago on one tragic September morning. Sometimes you must fight the enemy on their terms (waterboarding).

Attended by Americans in Paris or by appreciative Frenchmen?

Maybe more appropriate are an azzload of D-Day ceremonies in rememberance of the 65th anniversary. I'd cut and paste, but it would take a bunch of space.

GR, you can Copy & Pate until the cows bark .....

You know what he is talking about.

There are many many more fringe idiots out there who are pissing on our Soldiers Graves this day than are visiting them and planting little American Flags on them.

And if it weren't for us, they would be Speaking "Nazi German" right now from Western Africa all the way over to Japan.

How about we just keep some perspective on Honoring those who Died when they probably did not want too, so someone else's family could be free and all be together this day.

That is what it is all about.

SOAF...We may be in an ongoing pissing match...but...I agree with you and reserve this day as one of somber salute to the fallen. I might not always agree with the mission...but...I will always honor the duty and honor of those that have given their lives in service. Thank you for the post.04-bow

RE: "Freedom is not Free"!
Punk,
No one seems to be ranting, save for yourself. It is well documented that people would like to forget the 16 million innocent people murdered by Hitler. The 20 some odd million murdered by Stalin. Or the people who died to save the world from fascism in Europe and England. People don't want to be reminded of the 3000 innocent people murdered on 9/11 or of that unpaid debt owed to America, for those countless, nameless, faceless, brave young Americans that have given their lives on foreign soil. Those Americans who died before they could enjoy the freedom to raise a family. Yes, Punk, freedom is not free, it's only when that price of freedom becomes uncomfortable, that we all must be reminded, again and again.
