ACLU
We have a family member that has a legal crisis that pertains to the Constitution. Rather than spend tens of thousands on legal fees we decided to approcah the ACLU to see if they would take the case.

On the very front end of our meeting they asked about her politics. She told them what they wanted to hear. They then notified us that they had time for a new case and to present the facts. They agreed that their were serious constitutional issues and the case had a high rate of success. The only problem was and I quote "it doesn't fit our agenda". We asked for a clarification and were informed that this is a "conservative issue" and that is not their agenda. I then explained that their own brochures references all constitutional issues regardless of politics. At which time we were informed that they really didn't have time for new cases.

Sad thing is this case would have brought positive attention to the ACLU as it will effect many others. It has a very high probability of success.

Can you elaborate on the nature of the case? If it were such that you are suing some entity and had a good expectation of receiving a judgment, I'd expect that a private lawyer would be a better choice.

This seems fairly damning of the ACLU, though. I wonder if there is a way to escalate from a local level to a more national level to get them to reverse the local decision. The ACLU seems to be organized at a local level first...

West, get all your facts together along with any documentation you might have and send it to Bill O"Reilly - he hates them bastards.
