I don't think I would completely agree with this, but just some political rumblings...

Their are some clear benefits to five states. 10 senators for the same area. Increase in Reps. States would closely resemble the population, as opposed to curret setup.Two of the five states would be Spanish speaking. Three English speaking.

Spanish SpeakinG:
West Texas (El Paso). South Texas (San Antonio and the Valley).

English Speaking:
SouthEast Texas (Houston and SE Texas). Northeast Texas (Metroplex and NE Texas). Central Texas (Just north of San Antonio to the Panhandle and Plains (Austin, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Amarillo).

How you would break up the public universities is anyones guess.
