I never said UALR would want to move to the A-Sun. The scenario was what would they do if they get kicked out of the Sun Belt. Obviously we now know that there will be no need to even ask them to join the A-Sun but they might still be in trouble if New Orleans drops athletics and the Sun Belt decides that it wants everyone in the league to sponsor football or else pack up and go. A few leagues are still going to have some interesting times coming up.

RE: Campbell's departure and 7/6/5 rule
The topic of the thread is Campbell and my opinions are clear... its also been clear in the past that I did not accept the below average results at Mercer. Neither did our administration. Campbell is content with mediocrity.

The argument that Campbell finished higher in the standings than Mercer at times is absurd. That was when we were both bad or bottom of the pack.

The fact remains that Campbell hasn't produced a winning season in 15 years, correct? that's pretty telling.

Plus, Mercer is not on trial here. Campbell is the topic. They chose to leave, so they get examined under the microscope.

Answer this - what has Campbell done for the A-Sun?

Did they put an athlete on primetime ESPN (also a starter in an AFC championship). Did they produce an NBA coach of the year?

Or did they create scheduling conflicts on Sundays?

We can throw stones about stats all day. (Campbell RPI 257, Mercer 181) In fact -- Campbell was only ahead of transitional D1 schools in the ASUN RPI. All other schools aside, the A-Sun is better off without Campbell's RPI in hoops. You can't disprove that. Im not accepting forecasts that Campbell will "get better" either.

Once again, these are not personal attacks on posters. Its how I feel about the school.

You are just talking about basketball. We are improving on the Men's side there. I think you will see it this year. We had a lot of young players last year. I will be disappointed if we don't contend for the title this year.

The fact is that we beat you guys pretty handily twice this year. I think we played better against Mercer than any other team other than maybe KSU.

I think when you win three conference championships this year and you finish second in Men's sports and 3rd overall in Men's and Women's sports then you actually add something to the conference. It appeared to me that Mercer was a littler further down the standings this year. That is a fact that you can't deny. I think Mercer adds to the conference and so does Campbell.

You are the one who started making this comparison. Respond to the facts here.

I will tell you the biggest thing the Atlantic Sun will lose with Campbells departure... the best mascot in the nation! Go Fighting Camels!

Centenary looking at other conferences:

I guess if Centenary were to join the A-Sun, Denver and North Dakota will likely be locks for the Summit's Western Division (four Dakota schools, Southern Utah, and Denver)

Either Centenary stays in the Summit League or they move to Division III as the article states. There really is no Plan C.

Centenary was in this league back when the TAAC was Texas/Louisiana based. When membership shifted East, they left and rightly so. There is zero point zero reason for them to want to come back here or for the A-Sun to take them back.
