RE: Spring Game
I was out there and this team looked much improved. I don't know if they will win a lot of games this year but I think they will at least be more competitive. The offense showed me something today as did the defense.
Go Camels!!!!!!

RE: Spring Game
Wow talk about anger. Spring is suppose to be the time for renewed excitement for a team. With fans like you Camels 76, who needs enemies? I think of it as a process.
I would love to see what our coaching staff or school could do with scholarships like Pembroke but that is not coming anytime in the foreseeable future so for now we will just have to take our lumps while getting a solid base of players that can be built upon. I hate when people with limit football knowledge try to tell a coaching staff how to do their jobs. I think if they are paid to do the job and you are not let them do it. There is a reason you are just a fan on a message board and not coaching this or any other college football team (Unless you are really Coach Steele in disguse)
Also if you read the quotes from the Coach this spring it seems like he knows quarterback is still an issue to be addressed. How about this for an idea for once in your life, try to look at the positive. If passes were being picked off is it possible that the defense may be improving? Especially considering that the coaching staff's plan from the beginning, if I recall a statement from the initial press conference and a few interviews from a few years ago, was to put the better athletes on defense. I think the team is expecting the defense to be a little farther ahead of the offense at this point in hopes of staying in more games.

RE: Spring Game
Quite the contrary. I believe the football team needs the support of its fans now more than ever and if you can't or won't support them now then don't support them at all but also don't pretend to call yourself a fan. Yes I can be a realist and say they may only win a game or two and look terrible while doing it, but I choose to attempt to focus on the positive knowing that as a first year program things are only going to continue to get better yearly. Spring should be a time when everyone thinks their team will be world beaters even if they aren't. If you have seen any of these young men on campus and made comparisons from one year to another you can see the amount of time and effort that they have put in the off-season to get bigger and stronger and hopefully better. I think the team will be better prepared to compete next year and will be in an even better position to compete the year after. I'm attempting to support a team that needs my support as a fan as opposed to just dogging them, the coaching staff and everyone associated with the program.

(04-28-2009 10:03 PM)Camel76 Wrote: camels7778, I'm in complete support of the players, anybody that would do what they're doing and paying their own way to do it deserves support. More support than they're getting. It's the coaching staff, that's getting paid good money that I think sucks. See camels7778, you don't know what I know. Some of the things that were done during the first real season, they need to be run out of town. Campbell can do better.
Bigger and stronger? Everybody with any program of value is getting bigger and stonger.
Mark my words and you can take this to the bank, as long as this coaching staff stays intact at CU, they'll never be better than a 2-3 win ball club.
You have to have leadership in coaching that can instill leadership in the players. CU doesn't have that. Thats the reality of the situation.
Man, you sure do 'think' you know a lot about a lot. We should all be as knowledgeable as you. It's real easy to sit behind your keyboard and bash coaches. I personally respect someone who can take a program from the ashes to what they have today. By the way, the program must have 'value' since they are getting bigger and stronger. Man, I don't know what your problem is, but you definitely have some anger problems. I was at the Spring game (drove 500+ miles with my son). I thought they looked really decent at times. Still young, but some fine athletes at certain positions. More bigger and better recruits coming in will pay dividends down the road. My quick calculation figured that there were approximately 1500-2000 at the game? Know how many were at the UTC spring game, at night, with a new coach, with tremendous PR in the local papers, at a 20,000+ seat stadium? 1,100. Be proud of what is happening at Campbell.. my momma always taught me if I had nothing good to say, then don't say anything!

RE: Spring Game
I thought the Spring Game went well and the attendance was good for a Spring Game at Campbell.
The new sign at the road is also a good addition.
I always watch the offensive line and they still need a lot of work. They need a line coach who actually played line in college. We don't have that now. We need a change there. One of the guys playing tackle is about the largest guy on the team and I have yet to see him block someone yet. I would have thought he would have been one of the players that did not come back from last year. Maybe it is because of size he is there but no heart. I would rather have a guy half his size who could block or atleast get in the way. He watches as the defensive line chases the quarterback. I think the line is the biggest challenge that Campbell has right now to be more competetive in the conference. The passing and running game are never going to work until we solve the line problem. You are just going to have alot of banged up QB's and RB's. Hopefully this will improve this year. I saw some improvement overall at the Spring Game.
Looking forward to the season and us being more competetive in the league.
