Where will Stevie be next season?
I wouldn't be surprised to see him at UAB, where Wes Flanagin is coaching. He would have to sit out a season, but could play his Senior season. I wish him well, and am sad his career here had to end the way it did. He had the opportunity to be a terrific player for us, but never seemed to quite be able to use his talents in a way that made other players around him better. Maybe he'll figure that out before his college career is over.

From the little contact I've had with Stevee he seems like a bright young man and, having sat next to his mom for 3 years, seems to come from a good family. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on course to graduate and won't want to "sit one to play one". If he does, UCA or UAPB seem like good options. Otherwise I'd like to see how he does at UAM.

I think he goes D-2, plays a year and graduates. You don't see many players transfer to a D-1 with only one year to play. My guesses are Washburn, UAM, Tech.

I'm guessing his ego won't allow him to play D2.

I guess it's not out of the question that he might stay at UALR, get his degree, and enter the workforce. Assuming he's only a year away from graduating, it would hard to go somewhere else as some of his hours may not transfer.
I just wish we would recruit guys that we can keep. And after that, keep the guys that we recruit.

Seems like we might have some connection with Washburn, although I don't know what it is. Two of our supposed "bad apples" sure did well for them this year, as Kiki averaged about 12 points and DeAndre averaged 16 points. I really don't know what the deal was with those 2 players, but I didn't see them as less talented then most of the guys on this year's roster so it must have been player/coach issues. I'm sure Washburn's coach would be thrilled to have Stevee for a year, as well.

No coach is normally going to keep a player who can't help him win, or has an attitude problem. Stakes are too high. Especially a program like ours where getting to post season is imperative after so many years, and the coach knows he can't be so benevolent as to keep players he doesn't think can help him keep his job. Just the underbelly of college sports.

I suspect attitude problems don't just surface in college. My point is if Coach Shields is a no-compromise coach (that's debatable), then don't touch the ones with "attitudes".

As far as I can tell, none of the 3 players that have been dismissed the past 6 seasons were "thugs". They were each our leading scorers and I'm sure had egos. As far as I can tell, the players on the great teams are not all "alter boys". Part of being a successful coach these days is being able to deal with those types of player issues.

That may be part of our problem.

I just about spit coke out my noise reading that 1st sentence. Wes and Moore had a fist fight that was probably one of the reasons Wes found the door later that year. I would being willing to bet you that Moore does not go to UAB.
The kid probably goes to one of the local D2 schools in the Gulf South if he is on track to graduate. If the kid is a little behind, I would think finding a school to pay for 2 years of school for one year of BB would be the way to go.
If he goes D1, UCA is as poor a fit for his style of ball as UALR was. UAPB???? SEMO with Dickie?

RE: Where will Stevie be next season?
Flannigan and Moore did not get along. Kiki and DeAndre would not have played much this season if they had stayed. Who would you bench for those two? In an 8 man rotation Kiki might have gotten on the floor. Might have. Courtney Jackson would have played before they did. Best thing was for those two to go somewhere they could play.
Look at what is going on in Fayetteville, Fortson is the same type player Moore was as far as style of play and attitude. Fortson may last a little longer because he is a better talent, but he is a head case like Moore was. After all, Pel did bench him in the middle of the season. Who knows what for, but it seems Fortson ignored the other players on the floor just like Moore did.
