A little more on Neighbour
Alabama recruit Tony Mitchell is the top scorer at Birmingham (Ala.) Central Park High School, but he isn't alone at the top. The slashing wing shares high-scoring honors with Will Neighbour at 21 points per game.
Will Neighbour is making some noise in Alabama after coming over from England.
Neighbour, a skilled 4 man from England, has the attention of several college programs. After seeing him play in Europe, Arkansas-Little Rock offered. Syracuse and Davidson also saw him oversees and are intrigued. Alabama, Ole Miss and UAB have watched him play this year at Central Park.
Central Park assistant coach Donovan Broadnax said he thinks Neighbour is a high-major talent, but questions about how his academic work from England will transfer are holding back his recruitment.
"He is a high-major prospect who is making the adjustment to the speed of the game," Broadnax said. "Will is used to dominating everybody, and he can't just do that here. I think the high-majors have questions about how his grades will work out and whether or not he can qualify to play next season."
Does sound like the issue will be can he qualify. Like was pointed out below, it may be like the Coleman situation. Take a chance on a kid with high upside and hope for the best. The UALR athletic dept. has had tons of foreign players in volleyball, swimming, tennis, etc. so they may have experience in working this out. If he's like most of the foreign students at UALR, he is likely a good student and the issue is just getting his course work in England approved.
