Preseason Tournaments
It seems to me, that we really need to get into a preseason tournament next year, be it the NIT, or the Alaskan Shootout, Coaches vs. Cancer, whatever.

I think it would accomplish two things: 1) allow us the opportunity to play a big-name team, thus helping our RPI, and 2) get us used to a tournament atmosphere, which we surely need come the Sun Belt Tournament. We stink in tournaments. Maybe this will help in that regard.

We never seem to be in the tournaments that give us a shot at a big boy on a neutral floor. I think it may have a lot to do with connections, which we seem to be a little short on. It would really help our program.

PTJR asked me the other night why we never get into these preseason tournaments. I didn't have an answer. I would assume going to Hawaii or Alaska might cost you. Can't imagine the mainland tournaments would have much costs involved. I know Newell went to Hawaii, but that was when no one was watching our budget.

Weren't we in the preseason NIT under Wimp, and the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic (not on a neutral court) under Shields? As I recall, we beat Akron on the neutral court, and then lost to Texas Tech. Surely we have the ability to get into something. There's so many of them now!

I know you all are talking about the men. But it seems like I read somewhere in the past that the ladies may be in the preseason WNIT next season.

At the last coachs luncheon Foley talked about being in next years preseason WNIT as long as they can get the schedule worked out.
