Rice brewing in the name of science
I've gotta' give a lot of credit to these scientific brewers. Like I needed another reason to have a beer. These students are a true credit to your fine university. 04-cheers

If you have to register for that link, and don't want to do so, this one gives a good idea of what's up.

RE: Rice brewing in the name of science
Sorry to resurrect this thread, and go on a tangent, but I didn't necessarily want to start a new thread (though it probably could have taken one)...

Taking this beer thing a bit farther (though not about Rice), this just seems downright un-American. Not sure I'll be getting a draught in Oregon anytime soon. (Never mind the fact that I'm not planning on going to Oregon anytime soon.)

The crazy stuff legislatures will do for revenue - like the Washington, DC fee (tax) on an electric bill to pay for traffic lights! But what if you stay in your apartment all the time? Do you have to pay when you don't use them? It is described as a user fee. And what about the non-residents who use streetlights? Or are they not allowed to use the streetlights? Can they just ignore them because they are not a paid user?

Meh. It's like the operating costs passed through as the tenant of a building. I don't ever go to the other floors, so what do I care if their hallway is lit? But I pay a proportional amount of the electric bill for the common areas based on the square footage of my office suite.

And no, the visitors to my suite don't pay for the hall lights, even though I would have an easier time finding my way in the dark than they would.
