STR...North Carolina may have lost Ty Lawson...
Apparently he has some sort of toe injury and speculation is he will not be available for the ACC Tournament.

Could possibly help us if UNC loses early in ACC Tournament.

Ty Lawson isn't Kelly Wise. Unless his toe has been severed from his foot, he'll be out on that court this week.

There was speculation that he would not play against dook but he did. Playing everyday for three days is something else, however. I'd be surprised if he doesn't play at all.

Lawson is a warrior. Unless it's way more serious and he can't fly up and down the court like he normally does, he'll play.

Roy Williams is smart. He knows that they are pretty much a lock for a 1 seed. Unlike us, UNC can lose a game and still look like the greatest thing since sliced bread in the pundits' eyes. The ACC Tourney is pretty much meaningless and he hates it anyway. Why play Lawson and get him further hurt when he can just let him heal?

Sucks for them.

NC still my favorite (yes we CAN beat them but I do think when playing at their best they are the best...like Memphis last year and 2011) but less so if Lawson ineffective.

RE: STR...North Carolina may have lost Ty Lawson...
well, it's an interesting piece of info that could affect how they play even in the tourney, so it's worth watching when predicting how things will go and etc. I got turf toe once and it sucks - persistent pain that does affect your movement and lasts for a long time. I don't know what other kind of a toe injury you could have other than a break which is much worse.

all that said, if he is out and they lose in the ACC but he is back for the NCAA, it will not affect the committee re seeding, since they already have enough of a resume for a 1 seed (albeit with some weakness), and there is just one possible loss here.

I know what people will say, I'm just saying that in this situation, it won't make a difference. If they play well without him, it could even boost them.

I for one hope he heals, just 'cause I'd rather people in general be healthy than hurt.

Not if Duke wins it all.

My money says Ty Lawson isnt Jeremy Hunt and he will be able to play with a little toe injury. And even if he is out for the ACC Tournament and they lose, they will still be a 1 seed.

they saw how losses due to an injury didn't hurt Oklahoma so figured why risk further injury to Lawson and instead will let him heal up.

"There was speculation that he would not play against dook but he did"

Supposedly, his toe was swollen after the Dookie game. I hope he is ok. Would rather beat them at their best.

"Ty Lawson isn't Kelly Wise. Unless his toe has been severed from his foot, he'll be out on that court this week."

Why do people come on this board and take shots at Tiger players and former players?

Kelly Wise was one of my all-time favorite Tigers throughout his career. It made me sick to my stomach when he quit on the team at the end of the season. Calipari knew that Wise wasn't really injured after the Cincinnati game, and he did his best to motivate him, through critical comments in the media, to get off the bench and contribute.

Also, stop playing board police. It's annoying and unnecessary.

Wise still had problems with the knee a year later. Classless post.

TG4 was a tough, hard-nosed player. I'm not sure why he is so disrespected here.

Ty Lawson should play and probably will given the time off.
Appears to be a media sympathy thing.

Outstanding post. Ole Roy knows that they have a 1 seed in the bag. He also knows that a 100% Lawson is mandatory for NC to get to the Final 4. You are also correct about Roy's opinion regarding postseason conference tournaments.

Lawson is the fastest point guard in the country and I don't think we have a great answer for defending him. Fortunately, we matchup well with them at all the other positions and I would take Dozier & Taggart against Hansbra and Thompson. Our other big plus is AA and Mack could negate Green and Ellington.

On the flipside, Evans is a matchup nightmare for them as well. Both teams benches are similar with Ed Davis having an edge on Niles but I like Kemp, Spoon & Sallie against Frasor and Drew.

Evans provides them with a matchup nighmare as well.
