Downtown on Cental Avenue near the arena and downtown hotels are lots of good restaurants. One of the best is Bella Arte- Italian. But there are many others. On Sunday, the Arlington Hotel on Central Avenue has one of the most fantastic brunches you're likely to ever find. Very historic hotel that was a hangout for Chicago and New York gangsters in the 30's when they vacationed here. There is still a suite named for Al Capone.
Best Bar BQ in Hot Springs is McClards on US Hwy 270 West.
Best Really Good Sandwich type place is Mollie's on Grand Avenue just a few blocks west of the intersection with Central.
The Corn Beef Sandwiches at Oaklawn Park are great. Remember that although simulcasting of races from other parks and gaming will be available for every day of the SBC Tournament, to see actual live mutual horse racing, you will need to go on Saturday or Sunday. Highly recommended as a great time. Nothing like rooting on your bet with a cold beer and corn beef sandwich in 70 degree + weather that we are forecast to have.
There are some places out on Lake Hamilton that are also really good, but that may be a little too far for some fans, even though were talking only about a few miles. Hamilton House, a house I believe was once owned by Al Capone, is really pretty unique. Cajun Boilers out on 270 West is very, very casual with good food. People come to eat there by boat, as they do at several other restaurants on the lake. But don't be thrown by the casual description, every place in Hot Springs is casual as it all caters to the tourist trade.
These are just a few suggestions, and I'm sure others would have their favorite recommendations. But at least it's a start.
