It's hard to say this, but Western is a better
team than we are. They have many more skilled players who can rebound and shoot. And when they count, they make most of their free throws. We have some good players, but not as many as Western in those areas that count. If you were a great shooter and had a chance to go to either UALR, Troy or Western, where would you go? It's like being a great receiver or passer when Houston Nutt was coaching the Hogs. If you were a great quarterback or receiver, would you choose Arkansas or Florida where they throw the ball. With Petrino that has changed, but you understand my reasoning. Western took 26 3's, and we took 11. They made 7 and we made 6. But on the ones they missed they converted into put backs. Which validates what I've said many times. Three out of four good things happen when you shoot the ball. Last night was a perfect example. 04-rock

They put Vitamin S in the water in Kentucky (S for shooter). Actually, we shot a LOT better than they did.

It's not hard to say at all. It's a fact. They beat the hell out of us at Bowling Green. I actually thought we might slip up and beat them here because we have been a different team since the BG game. The Trojans play very hard, but, I saw enough at the BG game to know that as far as basketball talent goes, we don't compare to them. That was only confirmed last night, talent wise, although if we had peed a drop rebounding, and hit some free throws, we would have won despite their superior talent.

It was almost like rebounding wasn't even on our minds last night.

I'm not prepared to say we weren't trying to rebound. There were numerous occasions where the ball bounced way out when we had good position and they happened to be in the right place at the right time.
No question they have mucho more talent than we have, but we could have still won the game with good free throw shooting, and at least controlling the defensive rebounds. Just one of those nights. Hey Butler has lost one or two recently. Troy loses last night. It's basketball. All we have to do is win three in the tournament. If we're lucky, someone will upset Western and/or Troy and we won't have to play either one. That's when you'll know that luck is sometimes better than skill. Of course we'll still have to beat the teams that beat them.
What a crazy game.03-banghead
