I've always loved Steve Shields. He's always extra friendly with fans, beats the pavement to get the word out about the Trojans like no one I've ever seen before him, leads us to good records most every season, is a regular at church, etc. I have never seen a coach with as many good traits as him.

But a while back someone pointed out that a season hasn't gone by where a player didn't leave the program. Now I don't know if that's true but I definitely know that it is very often that it happens, and it seems like it's happened more often than I ve ever seen before. What scares me is that the whole Stevie incident last night might have exposed something from behind the scenes. It makes me worried that maybe there's a reason an exodus occurs every year, and it's coach-related.

I really hope I'm wrong. Please alleviate my fears on this...

I think its just he demand the "team" concept and simply doesn't tolerate otherwise.

That's what makes The Incident so bizarre and out-of-character for Coach Shields.

Bizarre is the word I keep coming back to.
