RE: Great Moments in FAU history.
yeah. The only thing that kept FIU from rising at a quick pace was very poor administration. But like Joel said: I think FAU is preparing itself to eat FIU's dust. FIU has already caught up to FAU talent-wise in one season and we will keep rising. FAU will absolutly need that stadium if they want to rise to the next level... but until they do their growth will be stunned. They will remain a decent team at most and will remain there until that step is taken. Right now Troy followed by FIU are the closest with the potential to explode onto the national scene.

What is going on over there? FAU, get your $h!t done, give them boys a decent stadium so FIU can go over there and clean house with our feather dusters made of Owls tail!!!

DECENT?

Back to Back bowl wins, and 1 co-confrence championship in 3 years of Full FBS play.

Thats not decent, that extraordinary. 04-rock

And I cant flame on the stadium dig, because THAT is right on the money. I do give FULL props to FIU's administration on that. They had a goal, planned for it, and made it happen.

FAU had a DREAM, didnt plan for it, and is now reaping a fickle harvest due to the economy tanking.

Rumor mill says a couple of 11th hour saviours for naming rights have stepped forward recently, but its VERY tight lipped.

I pray that its true. :ncaabbs:

How in your delusional mind do you come up with such idiocincracies???
You have yet to have a winning season, you have yet to go to a bowl game, much less win one, no shot at the title yet, and you are going to compare FIU to FAU???

What because we have one close game. And even if you do win against us, all that is is a win, it doesn't mean you are better. Stanford beat USC, doesn't mean stanford is better, App. State beat Michigan, doesn't mean they are better.

How about when FIU actually achieves something other than more "star" recruits, can you compare FIU to FAU.

See ya in Nov., GO OWLS!!!!!

Listen, I mean no offense, but FIU is moving faster than FIU right now. You keep saying all this talk about when FIU has done in the past. But what you fail to realize, is that FIU is future minded. The past is no longer, they aren't even the same program by any means. Their new coach is being broken in and if you've seen the video in the other thread, you'll see why FIU will rise above and beyond what you FAU fans are saying. Most of the FAU fans are simply trying to prolong the inevitable by talking about the past. But I myself, FIU fans, and select others, see it differently, and that's because we're future minded. We couldn't care less about what FIU has done in the past, because they have a new, and might I say pretty darn good, coach and better talent than they've had in the past, they are FIU's future. It's a completely different program now, and all signs say it's headed in the right direction in a hurry.

All signs last year indicated that FAU should of been MUCH better then it was, yet we didnt get it done.

FIU HAS improved, no doubt about it, but saying they are ahead of us when in reality they havent even had a WINNING season yet.

Now if they blow us out of the water this year and dominate confrence competition then its a different story. Potential doesnt count for squat untill it produces results.

Wow! This is my first post but I have been lurking around reading almost obsessively every hour! (Even though not that many posts to merit the obsession).

I am an FIU alum, fan, and season ticket holder. I am humbled (the best word I can find) at the respect and belief in the FIU Football program. Gaining the respect of Troy fans, stAte fans, MT fans is incredible. They respect us, why doesn't FAU?

Now, I can't say anything bad about FAU. They have won, they have won 2 bowls. You cannot take that away. But, honestly, FAU needs to start respecting what FIU is doing. As mentioned before, the sleeping giant is waking up. We have beat you in recruiting. You want us to beat you on the field. Just wait, you ass whoopin' is coming.

I hope to post more, join in on the fun, and make some new friends all the while!

Indeed, I agree OwlFamily, they haven't done it YET, but I feel they will get it done soon. And this is not to say FAU will not keep moving forward and become a great team. I just think at the moment, FIU has a little bit more momentum, and with that there's a possiblity for both FAU and FIU to be great teams. This of course would help the belt tremendously and accurately reflects my opinions on staying in the sunbelt, because it's going to get a lot better.

Welcome to the boards!

This is the Smack talk forum, so youll see alot of dissing and trash talking here. As long as its directed at the teams and not a personal posters just about ANYTHING will go.

The main forum is where youll see rational/positive talk about SBC teams and such. So dont expect much of that here.

Oh yeah by the way...

FIU SUCKS!!!

Welcome to the board, good first post! We want to get more and more people on this board. If we do that, this will turn into a great board we can all discuss sunbelt athletics during the offseason, as many of the other boards hibernate during spring and summer. Hopefully, this can become the official off season board. I say offseason in regards to football specifically because it seems to be the most popular to talk about. Though we also talk about basketball and baseball as well.

RE: Great Moments in FAU history.
You are sitting here SPECULATING... you can aim for the future, do better in the future, but until you do something its all a dream. Yes they are on an incline, but what's not to say they go back down, NOTHING! they need to prove something first, that is all we are saying, so far they have not done squat!

It's like us saying "we are going to win the BCS championship one day" so that makes us the best team... because it's the future... it may happen one day, 20, 50, 100 years, but it doesn't mean anything until we do it, so you DO need the past to validate a statement.

Talk is cheap, let FIU prove it on the field, let them win a championship, let them win a bowl game, hell, let them have a winning season, until then, they are and will remain BEHIND US!!!!

NCowl, I do agree with you mostly, I just think some of the FAU fans think they will forever be ahead of FIU and that it could never change. Right now they've got momentum, and you are correct, they have done nothing yet, specifically. But I do have to say going from 1-11 to 5-7 is a good feat for Mario Cristobal and his attitude is what will help them get better and better. But you are right in a sense, they still have to prove. I think they will do it, we'll have to wait and see.

RE: Great Moments in FAU history.
OwlFamily, when i said DECENT im refering to compared to all FBS... right now i think its fair to say that FAU is a decent team. I did not say that FIU is better... i think we need to beat you to prove that. I just said that FIU's trajectory and momentum is higher than FAU's. Once you guys get your stadium then the sky is the limit.

NCowl, im speaking in the present. As shown last year your team is no longer dominant against ours... we've closed the gap but havn't crossed the bridge. We have at least equal talent. So nothing i said was delusional... but very objective. I really think that FAU has peaked for now... because you really can only get so far with out having the proper facilities (a stadium).

i guess i don't share your outlook of boredom and uselessness because my team runs the show. when you're the best, the off season is just a matter of waiting until you can prove you're the best again. 05-mafia

welcome to the board esteban! yeah, i like to throw a little good natured smack around on here every now and then. we're all fighting the good fight together, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun with one another. and that's why this board is so great. it's like fighting with your brother. you can say anything you want to one another, but when an outsider tries to do the same, you come together and take the enemy down together. in this case, the enemy is ANY other conference! haha!

Yep we are all "fighting the good fight" to quote the great Apostle Paul. Just the only difference between football and Christianity is our fight will end up being against each other. In Christ we are all on the same team!
