I agree 100% with the OP. I've heard worse than this year's rendition of the National Anthem, but it was still too showy for me. Just sing the damn thing the way it's supposed to be sung, please!

Did anybody find out if Jose could see? I'm sure that dawn's early light didn't help.

The national anthem wasn't writen to any sort of tune....it was written as poem, and was later turned into a song. So who's to say which way is the right way and which way is the wrong way?

I don't mind different takes on the Star Spangled Banner.

It was originally a poem so it's not like they are screwing up the traditional 'sound' of the anthem.

We all know the tune comes from an old drinking song.

If it was played "correctly" by John Phillip Sousa and his band, then "The President's Own"-The United States Marine Band, The U.S. Navy Band, The U.S. Army Band, The U.S. Air Force Band and all the others from the music I've seen...I'd say it's an established FACT just EXACTLY how the National Anthem should be played/sung. There's no falsetto trills in any band arrangements I've seen. This is a bunch of crap to allow the ranging all over the place by American Idol wannabes and such.

I know that the ones that care on here know that. There IS a right way and a wrong way. If you don't know the difference...there is not hope for you.

I don't think I've ever seen a crowd at any sporting event energized the way Kate stirred up the Flyers fans.
