Let's see, it's a public works project that would create jobs - isn't that what Obama's stimulus package is supposed to do? And it's being done with state money.

RE: Road to Nowhere 2.0
For a second I thought y'all were talking about the Foothills Freeway they've been trying to build down here as a quick way to get to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. There's a stretch of it built, but the rest of it won't get done due to public dissent over the right of way. What exists so far is a road in the middle of nowhere, going nowhere...

Just another classic example to show that just because it says Republican on the name tag doesn't mean the person is actually a conservative.

Any politician worth voting for will try to get federal money spent in his district, no matter the reason. If the government does anything in his district, it helps the economy in that area - and gets him reelected...

What's "Democrat" or "Republican" in wanting to connect the cities in your state by a road? Have any of you heard about the diphtheria outbreak in the early part of last century? I'd say there are more resources that have come from the state of Alaska than any other state in the union. They get back dick according to what they pay in.

If they want this road..Why not build the road with the profits from oil that are now being distributed to the public? Allow the public to be owners in that road and profit from its use. If there are resources that can be profited from with this project, this would allow the public to share in those profits. The government would have no stake in it and would be a interesting free market experiment.

Don't want the road? Then buy each resident a jet like the ones Pelosi and Gore have.

You forget that West Virginia has been providing coal, oil, gas, glass, and steel to this nation since before the civil war...

You really want to compare WV resources with Alaska's? 03-lmfao

Do you realize how much gold, oil, silver, copper, and every other resource has been harvested from the state of Alaska?

As for WV, pretty sure your main towns are connected by roads.
