likely one to replace John Fowler next season. He seems to fit the profile. And possibly Ricky Davison. Both are good sized, tough sounding kids, who seem to be playing well at the Juco level. Of course they'll have to learn to play defense if they want to play for Steve.04-rock

Since they signed early, I am guessing that all of them have learned that defense matters with Shields, and will be giving it attention.

I don't know about that. We've had Juco signees tell the strength coach that they're really in good shape, and when they get here they're just not prepared for the speed and demands of D1 basketball. That's why Jucos are normally better the second year than the first.04-rock

However, Fowler was a good defensive player from the get-go, so maybe there is another like him in the lot. Odds are against it, though. He is pretty unique.

If any of these guys can bring it like Fowler, I'll be thrilled. True he played well last year, but he's a lot better this year.04-rock
