US Economy hit bottom...
NO WAY!!!

It's ironic there's a movie out called My Bloody Valentine, because the next 3 weeks are going to be bloody. Some of the company's that have announced layoffs will start putting people out on the street. Remember MOST layoff announcements are NOT effective immediately it takes a couple of months. We may hit 10% unemployment before June. No Happy Valentine's day for a lot of people.

Until some companies announce major hiring plans this cycle is going to continue and it will get much worse. :yikes:

I agree. We desperately need for new companies and industry to come up and hire some people.

Manufacturing is DEAD in the USA...mostly because of government taxation and regulation. The government made it so expensive and onerous to run a business that the profit margins could only be maintained by leaving the good old USA for more business friendly environments.

Economies RUN on manufacturing...NOT..service industries.

Want to make the USA great again?....END ALL corporate taxation..(after all, corporate taxes are just passed on to consumers anyway) Make the USA a refuge for business. Make America the PRIME destination for manufacturing. This is NOT complicated.

It isn't very complicated. We also need to keep unions at bey. My father, who was a not-so-active member of the Glass Molders and Potters Union, always tells me that this is the time to get away from union jobs because they have a lot to do with our plight. He is currently trying to get his coworkers away from the union because this same union was the cause of the closing of all 5 other plants in the nation.

Are current leadership are as foolhardy as our recently past leadership. Chaos will rain supreme and all the wrong people will benefit from this downturn. The downturn they created by the way. Anyone feel like they have been robbed, I certainly do.

I 100% agree. We need production and savings as the Austrian Economist say. I think the flat tax is the way to go. Just 18% or so across the board on the price of final goods. The price will be figured into the cost of the goods. All corporations would want to be headquartered in the U.S. and our workers would be a lot more cost competitive.

If I'm not mistaken, you voted for Obama, right? What makes you think those companies are going to hire anymore people when their taxes are going to be raised? My God, we already have the second highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world. If I'm wrong in my assumption that you're a liberal, I apologize.

What we NEED is the Fair Tax and a SEVERE cut in the federal government. MOST **** should be left up to the states, and with the Fair Tax, it would. Now, states have to BEG for money from the fed sent in by their OWN constituency. Liberalism/Socialism NEVER works. There's a damn reason most western European countries are moving towards capitalism.

Why Socialism Always Results in Tyranical Rule

BTW, and sorry Libs, thanks to Rush, I now know about William Bradford, a person who DID try Socialism in this country. Didn't work.

What, if anything is being done or promised, as part of the "stimulus" package or otherwise by the Obama administration, to convince companies to do that?
What, if anything is being done or promised, as part of the "stimulus" package or otherwise by the Obama administration, to convince companies NOT to do that?
Which set of incentives is more compelling?
If the latter, how is the economy going to recover?

Fuckit. Let's just tax the companies out of existence and then they can sit at home unemployed and draw nothing. Yeah, that's much better. 03-2thumbsup

Robert, I remember when Bush and the Republican Congress came to your school and did that to you guys.

Mean old Bush !!!!!

Don't worry, your Savior is going to STOP CRIME by taking all the Non-Criminals Guns away at a Cost of over $1 Trillion Dollars to the TAX Payer.

The Felons are already lining up to turn in their weapons !!! 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

Despite an almost 100% Ban on all Firearms in Britain, their Crime Rate has risen and Quadrupled .... so you see how Banning Guns STOPS CRIME ...

AND Britain is a country that already had pretty strict Gun Ownership Laws - - they did not have the Estimated 250 Million to over 500 Million Guns in Private Citizens hands like we do.

Do the 'Math' ... if it cost the Gubment only $10 Dollars per gun to confiscate, catalog, destroy, and pay the New Bureaucracy that will be Necessary to handle this stupidity, well you can see the cost.

SO, this will Bami'jesus's 2nd $Trillion$ Spent in less than 6 months to a year on absolutely nothing worthwhile .... what a Shrewd and Fiscal Guy this one is huh ???

Video is a bit long, but it is what it is and evidently, these Brit's aren't impressed with the POTUS-god's ideas nor do they see that banning their guns Even Slowed Crime Down any at all:

I don't have sweeping ideological answers to questions. If you have a specific question, I can & will share my ideas, but most of this discussion is occurring at the level of knee jerk ideology that grossly ignores reality.

I think the question posed is specific enough that if you have any useful ideas you can share them. The US is losing manufacturing jobs to other countries, at least some (but by no means all) of whom pay workers substantially less than we do. Paying US workers starvation wages is not an option (we agree on that). Losing our manufacturing base is not an option, as without any value-added components of our economy we will be unable to sustain any reasonable level of wealth. We can't deliver each other rich with Domino's or greet each other rich at the front door of Wal-Mart. So what do you do to attract value-added (primarily manufacturing) enterprises to the US?

Sorry. I forgot to use the off-topic emoticon. But Obama did come and Bush sent a representative(Bush was probably on vacation). Of course, you probably applaud the guy for using his second amendment rights to bear arms.
